This new look to mucho scares me! Help! With time, comes changes, and though this is quite a drastic change from the old mucho, as the kinks get ironed out and all the features get added we want available to you all, the site will get less different and more functional. We're hoping to give you guys the best, and it's taking adapting on all sides. To help everyone ease into this a little better, here's a short rundown of some of the features on the site and how they work: On the main page, you'll see that we have a nice handy search feature right in plain view finally! While the old mucho had a search, it wasn't on the main page and didn't work on pictures. This search works on all content in the site. We use a lazy search which tries to account for spelling mistakes and common root words. If you get too many results try using double quotes (" ") around your search query. UPDATED: Login has been moved to be right next to the search. Unfortunately in the change over, avatars were lost, so you're going to have to upload your avatar again in the "edit" option next to your login name at the top of the site. When you post a comment all your blank avatar icons will change over to your new one. UPDATED: If you want to be able to be reached by others on the site through some sort of chat client, in the edit feature of your account, there are places for AIM, MSN, Yahoo! and ICQ information. You can fill out as many of these as you have/want to be reached on. The information will show up on your user page when a person clicks on your username or avatar on the site. For those of you who can't log in yet because you're having issues signing up, let me just cover the rules for a username. We only accept letters, numbers and the hyphen. Underscore and any other punctuation will not work and you'll get an error message when trying to sign up. Also, make sure you use an email address that you can access because an email will automatically be sent to that address with a verification code that you MUST use before you can log in or even change your password. So all that brings you to the main content. The main page now shows todays and yesterdays content, since that seemed to be something everyone wanted. If you want to see anything older of a particular day, there's an "older>>" link you can click on at the bottom of the site. That lets you go back and forth between the days. The content is ordered down the list with videos first, then pictures and finally flash/games, but marked as to what they are and now separated! But guess what! You no longer need to worry about having to click a link a couple times to see the videos! It's all right there when you click the thumbnail, comments included! Since we're on the topic of comments, we added a new feature here. You can specifically reply to a comment using the "Reply" link, and that will add a thread feature to the original comment. This saves people from needing to type ^ to show it's a response, or that getting messed up by someone slipping a comment in-between. Neat, eh? Sometimes this is just a tad sluggish, so you only need to hit "reply" once and wait. Same goes for "post". You may be wondering what those random blue words under the title and description for the content is. We added in these tags, so you can click one of those words and it will show you everything else on the site that shares that word. So if you see "funny" in blue, you click that, and every single item that has the tag "funny" on it will load up for you. We have a lot of old content to add these tags to, so it will take some time to get it all tagged up. While you're looking at the content and replying to comments made there, on the right side of the screen you'll see some cool features. You'll be able to see the latest 'Recent Searches' and 'Popular Searches', and click on any of those words to see the results as well. Beneath this are ready-made URLs and codes for linking the content you're looking at. The first window gives a short URL to copy and paste for emailing, IMing, etc, whereas the second window is full code for linking the video into your myspace page. You can also link the content directly to things like digg it, fark and del.icio.us if you want to share it there, just by clicking the appropriate button. And beneath that you can see other content that's related to what you're currently viewing, based on the tags. On the main page, off to the right, there are some links for "Most Popular", "Most Recommended" and "Most Discussed". Unfortunately these 3 aren't functioning properly yet, though the "Most Recent" and "Tags" do. (Tags are listed alphabetically to make searching easier.) When the not-functioning options are working, it will be announced, and they'll do exactly what the link says they do. We've added a feed that gets updated every 5 minutes that shows the latest comments to the content on the right side of the screen, and on the left you can now see a list of who all is currently on the site, and you can click their name there to see their homepage (which lists last 10 submissions and last 10 comments). Hopefully soon we'll get the private message function back which will be available on this page as well. Beneath the MuchoSucko logo you'll see a black bar with the categories of the site. When you click on a desired category, a new grey bar appears below this with all the old sub-categories you were used to from the old site. You can just use these to see all items in that sub-category again, or you can access them through the tag feature as well. Also along this black bar are a few new features to the site. These include MuchoWear which will take you to the shop to be able to purchase your own MuchoSucko clothing, a 'subscribe to mucho' RSS feed link on the right and a link to add our myspace to your myspace. As a quick warning to all asshats who think 'first' posts, or similar such spam, is funny or worthy of mucho, you're wrong. First offense, you get a one year ban from commenting on the site, no warnings or strike count. As new features get added, I'll (DejaVu) update this FAQ file. If you have any questions you think should be added to this, or any feedback on the site, give me a shout at admin@ How can I download and save a video to my own computer? At the moment with the new site design, this isn't an option. But it is planned to be an option in the near future. Sorry for the inconvenience. How do I submit things to you and am I free to put in anything? Below the search feature in the top right corner of the site is a bright red "Submit Content" link. Click this to get to our submitting section. You'll note that we only have 2 types of submittable content now, as we no longer deal with flash/games or general links to websites. You can either submit a picture or a video by selecting the appropriate radial button. Both content types have a way to submit your content through either a file you upload to us, or a URL link (you don't need to have both fields filled in). Pictures gives you no guidelines like the old site did, so here they are: 1) No lame stuff!!! 2) It's gotta be either .GIF or .JPG - nothing else! 3) No images larger than 500 pixels wide. (475 pixels is optimal though) No more 1200 pixel wide images people! You'll see a field for "Tags". This is like the tags explained above, only you can add some in here. It's not a mandatory field, so you're not obligated to. There's also the option to check off whether the content is mature or not. Mature is considered anything with nudity or sexual scenes. When something is successfully submitted to us, you should get a red header message that tells you if your submission was successful. If you don't see that message, it didn't go through. Remember to hit UPLOAD only once and wait til the page refreshes itself or you could send us corrupted files. Depending on the size of the file you're giving us will make this wait take longer or shorter times. The "0 errors occurred" message is always there. If you submit something that doesn't follow the guidelines for posting (mainly pictures) it should let you know why it's not submitting there (in theory, may not be functioning properly). UPDATED: How do I delete my account? You can't. Neither does emailing us get it done. You don't want to use the account anymore, stop logging in and coming to the site. UPDATED: How do I change the email address on my account? Unfortunately at this time you're unable to make this change yourself. If you need your contact information changed in case you ever need to use the 'forgot password' option, either use the 'Contact Us' link, or email to admin@ with your username, the old email address (for verification purposes) and the new email address. We'll make the change for you. Can I really say anything I want in the comments section? While we don't impede on what's said in the comments section, and we like people to speak freely, common sense should prevail here. If you feel the need to just post harassing comments to other users, you will find yourself receiving a warning email and possibly banned from the site. Just because you're anonymous on the Internet doesn't mean you just have to be a jackass to others. As well, any comments with racial slurs in them will find that the comment in question will be deleted, and if it's a common thing from a user, a warning email will be sent to them. In this day and age, there's no need for racism like that. Get over it. I registered ages ago and haven't received my verification email! When you register with our site, an email is immediately generated and sent to the email address you signed up with. There are three main reasons why you didn't receive the email: 1) The most common reason for not receiving the email is that your email is set up with spam filtering and has filtered the email into your spam or trash folder. If you haven't received the email within the first 10 minutes of signing up, check these folders as it's most likely there, or where ever you send your spam mail to. 2) Your email is set up to send a message back to the person saying they need to click a link to be allowed to get your emails through. As our system is automated, there's no possible way this will work, so the mail just doesn't make it through. To prevent this, set it to allow mail from muchosucko.com to come through. We really don't send out spam mail. 3) You accidentally mistyped your email address when filling out the form. In any of these cases, if you can't find the email within the first hour (to allow for some Internet slow-downs, mail server slow-downs, etc), please send an email to passwords@ and make sure to include the email address you signed up with, as well as the username and password you signed up with. Someone should get back to you within 24-48 hours concerning your request. |
