american football hits

i'd like to see what would happen without pads, cause with them, a few of these are potentially paralyzing.

Amen to that. I'm a Green Bay fan through and through. They didn't make the playoffs this season, so sticking with the NFC North, I rooted for the bears this weekend. So I decided to go on various Seahawk fan websites, talking very minor trash about the Seahawks. I have about 40 or so death threats against me now.

I currentely play rugby still. Have been for five years now. The difference between football tackles and rugby tackles is the fact that football hits are more collision hits where as rugby is a grapple tackle in order to get the ball from the oppossing team as quickly as possible. Although football players where pads its necessary. Both sports are rough no body should be talking shit about either

Yup, what you saw were the ONLY hard hits there have EVER been. you got it, no hard hits at all in the last 15 years, that hit that Reggie Bush took last weekend was just a kiss on the cheek.

  • Stephen
    Stephen 2007-01-16T05:29:21Z says:

You know what sucks thoe as you can tell most of these are old 80% of these are a illegal hits now a days. Cant lead with crown of your helmet period anymore. All the bigtime hits where WRs going across the middle to catch a ball and now a days believe it or not most of them hits would recieve fines and suspension for that. You cant hit a defenseless WR or anyone for that matter if he has no way of protecting thereselve. Things have gotten way to strict. I know every position gets fines but you will see especially now normally your FS(free safety) or SS(Strong safety) almost always head the list of fines on most of there respective teams. I would have my QBs ass for leaving me out to dry like that across middle.

Australian football is also a shadow of it's former self thanks to money and having to clean itself up for the lucrative family dollar. The biggest talking point in recent years? A captain caught fucking the vice-captain's wife in the toilet. No whats-his-name the star player knocked out and taken to hospital before the first bounce in the grand final.
I personally prefer the freer flowing and more athletic direction of the game. The Tiwi Islands without doubt play the most attractive Australian Rules football in their league. I would recommend anyone to go find footage of that.

They did in fact bring American football players over to try and play the faster flowing incarnation of rugby league and were found to be wanting. No stamina to see out an entire match nor agility to land or avoid tackles on their lighter-footed opponents.

Chairman even if that's true (who are the mysterious "They" anyway?) the two sports require different training for their athletes. You're comparing apples and oranges. If the Americans were "found to be wanting" it's because they have gone through years of professional training to be ass kickers, not runners. Go Colts

oy vey you guys are such douches. Here's a thought lets get basketball players to play an english team in soccer/football. Might sound ridiculous but its the same as getting american football players to play rugby and vice versa.

      rucifee 2007-01-16T19:33:35Z says:

i think, matched up with players their own size from the other sport, the football players would win, just because rugby players are trained for long cardio strain, and american football players are trained for short bursts of power.

As ill-suited as the previous experiment I suspect. I guess you just have to cover all the angles. Although Australians have "made it" in the NFL as kickers/punters/whatever. You know the little guy that runs on for a few seconds each game to kick it and then get the fuck out of there before he gets squashed.

  • rucifee
    rucifee 2007-01-16T19:44:35Z says:

I think that so many more players in the NFL are hurt is because they have to go for the ball and focus on it, leaving them very vulnerable (especially if they are in the air) with 3 or 4 defenders already in perfect position to hit him if his hands touch the ball.

  • rucifee
    rucifee 2007-01-16T19:48:18Z says:

You see, my foriegn friends, only 2-6 players on the offense are allowed to catch the ball, depending on the play, although there are 11 men on each side. 5-8 men block and 1 man throws, and on the DEFENSIVE side, 3-4 men go against the blockers, so up to 7 men are in position to hit the reciever after he catches it, so because of the huge difference in teammates-opponents, it id VERY likely that he will get hit, and hard.
p.s. people play football in parks, empty lots, etc. with no pads, and the hits are just as hard as they always are.
