somewhere there's a video of a SHOULDER MOUNTED nuke launcher. As in, a dude fires a little Nuke RPG at something he has to make visual contact with. It's called the "Davey Crockett" and they showed it in Metal Gear Solid 3. Imagine being the fucker told to shoot it?

wasnt there also a project with a nuclear explosion powered space ship. project promethius, or something. the basic idea was to have a nuke on the bottom of the ship, then direct the explosion downward onto some huge stop so the force puts the spaceship into space. Its actually a pretty good idea, except the whole radiation thing...

The idea of launching something with that much force... and completely annihilate anything that's being launched (especially humans).

johnmerrickxx: no, they got prototypes, and it is a more efficient way of launching something. kinda like a JATO unit on steroids, speed, and angel dust. the government scrapped it because it was after the cold war, and the russians and the US were trying to cut down on nuclear activities.

While I'm not knowledgable enough to say it was impossible, it sounds very hard to believe that you could simply direct your nuclear explosion against the launch pad and avoid having your spaceship consumed simultaneously.

i guess, but i heard that the total energy absorbed by the funnels of the current engines is greater than that a nuclear bomb would produce.
