It's funny that I have to explain this to you, but America's racial politics are not the world's. America has the "one-drop rule", which means that anybody with any African ancestry is considered black. This kind of narrow definition is actually quite rare outside of the U.S. Many people consider themselves to be of 'mixed' ancestry. You can call her Asian all fucking day. It makes no difference. She's half-Asian, half-white. America's way of thinking about these things is fucked up, and it's the exception not the rule.
Well, more relevant to my point than how individual people lable themselves is how societies lable ethnic groups.
The mix or mestizo group is common in many countries. In Japan, this girl isn't "Japanese", she is a "half".
