Oranje since that thread died, Dana White won't let Silva fight Roy Jones Jr. They gave Jones -2800 odds.
i believe it was actually silvas trainer that wouldn't actually, because like i said before, an mma fighter fighting a boxer with boxing rules would get fucking massacred.
It would make more sense to have them compromise and fight K1 kickboxing rules or similar. Then Jones doesn't have to worry about grappling and Silva isn't forced to use only one part of his arsenal against Jones specialty.

yeah, I guess a lot of fighters are starting to get pissed off with the contracts UFC offers. From what I understand, UFC contracts are equivalent to them owning you...guess they don't pay very much and restrict sponsorships and as mentioned before, who they can fight
ufc contracts pay very well (comparatively to other mma organizations) however yes.. they do basically OWN that person.
If you put a boxer in a cage fight all he pretty much has to do is avoid trying to get dropped and just throw one good haymaker and any MMA dude is most likely to go down. They all got glass chins. Mostly everyone in MMA is overrated. There are no MMA legends accept for Fedor. In boxing you have legends that truly are masters of their craft. Mike Tyson for example, one of the most ruthless athletes ever. I bet if you put him in the cage during his prime noone would be able to take him down without getting a 1-2 to the chin.

A boxers punch is the most solid, most powerful punch in martial arts or any form of combat. They dont need light gloves to knock someones ass out. UFC fighters though look like they are fucking drunk when they throw punches.
and a kickboxers leg is the most solid most powerful kick in any form of combat whats your point? a kick is also a lot more powerful of a blow than any punch that has or ever or will ever be thrown.

I've seen far fewer UFC bouts but I've seen much more blood in the UFC matches. I like MMA better..random kicks to the face, elbows, knees, etc, etc.

I don't like MMA roll around on the floor matches either, but I also think boxing is pretty rediculous at times with pillows on your fists (yes I know it still hurts a LOT and the limitation that you dont use your legs and you never grab your opponent for anything other than to slow down the fight.
Two me a good comparison would be to say if the two were different kinds of sword fighting, boxing would be fencing and MMA would be Viking battles.

Boxing Dominates MMA in striking. Even Dana White says that MMA is leaps and bounds behind Boxing in striking. Just watch a UFC fight, noone in that whole roster really knows how to strike.
You're a clueless retard. Lots of mma fighters train boxing, watch videos of Andrei Arlovski training and tell me he doesn't know how to strike watch Vitor Belfort. MMA fighters don't wear ridiculous boots so they can't get as much traction behind their punches, the need to defend against takedowns means they can't set up their punches in the same way either but that doesn't mean they don't have good striking, the fact that they still ko guys without all the bullshit aids boxers have makes it even more impressive. The fact that Ray Mercer got his ass-kicked by Kimbo "glassjaw" Slice speaks volumes.
Boxers are on trick ponys and as a result are great at that trick. But put a boxer in a position where he has to defend against more than just punches to the upper body and head and the game will change a lot.
Remember Nascar drivers are top notch at banked left hand turns... going 4 wide into a tight corner is nothing to be taken lightly... but that doesnt mean they are better drivers than some rally car racers.
BTW lots of MMA fighters train in boxing. Not to the extent that many pro boxers do, but again, thats because they arent one trick ponies.
Boxing is beautiful. Even though boxing can be all about brute strength and speed. It can also about precision, technique and finesse. Combine these things and you come out with something that MMA can never be. MMA can never be graceful like Boxing can be. MMA can never be as precise as boxing can be. The most thing of all though is, MMA can never ever be like Boxing because its associated with so many douche bag people and shitty athletes. What the fuck is up with this wrestling style type of fighter? They come in and have no class, look like they came out of prison. Why the fuck do people watch this shit? I find MMA great to watch but not UFC bever really could put my finger on it, but it's not the same as a good K1 fight or a welter weight boxing match.

Boxing? Is that sport even still around? If you train to only punch, your going to be better then those they do not train to ONLY punch. Punching is not fighting, mma is the art of fighting. So boxers are better punchers. But an mma fighter is the better fighter.
I'm not bothering to read all of this page so someone else might have already said this up there. I only watched about a minute of this and apparently someone took some good boxing footage and matched it with some not so exciting MMA footage. (It would be very easy to do the exact opposite, by the way) If your point is that it is much easier to stand in the pocket and trade blows with 16oz pads on your hands when the likelyhood of that one punch ender is less and you don't have to worry about knees and elbows and takedowns then congratulations.
