Bison can't be extinct, I have bison meat in my freezer. They are slightly different; buffalo can be found mostly in the States while bison is found mostly in Canada.
Ok, I was a little wrong in the distinction between the two. I found this on a website:
'Buffalo' is the popular name often used to describe North American bison; however, this is a misnomer. In fact, buffalo are distinctly different animals from bison. Although both bison and buffalo belong to the same family, Bovidae, true 'buffalo' are native only to Africa and Asia.
if it was canada it would probably be in waterton or banff parks but most of their bison are in enclosed areas so i'm thinking that this is yellostone park in wyoming where you have to stop all the time to let bison cross the road

The elk was some crafty ninja, dodging using the buffalos weight against him, go elk!
