This show is called "Le journal de Groland" and is quite popular in France. They are among the only ones still doing some good parodies and not restraining themselves to some boring politically correct humor.
This one is about a debate we currently have in france, about the fact that radical muslims want their women to be completely hidden, even from medical staff (especially male). The state argues that hospitals are laic and while they'll try to avoid going too much against their believes, the methods are not to be discussed from a religious point of view.
So the parody gives a solution: a newly designed burka, showing only the parts that could be checked for medical purposes, so the honor is safe and the burka still on.

Thanks for the translation. I think the Muslim extremists simply fear the cultural and especially religious ramifications of relaxing their views or yielding to "Progressivism" and moderate mindsets. This subject has been tearing the Middle East apart for years. This is especially evident when you examine the social history of Iran over the last 70 years. Normally, with "Western" medicine comes some form of "Western" socio-cultural reform. Just imagine the clusterfuck that would come from a widespread Islamic femenist movement. Scary.

      You're welcome.
They are just a few of them in fact, so it's not much of a problem. The only big deal is that they still need medical attentions like anybody else. And really, I don't think that is a part of the western culture. It is science and medecine, so it's pretty much intercultural. Going to a western laic hospital does not enquires that one eat pig, wear tight bikinis and abandon all form of spirituality.

I understand that, but the fear of Western culture amongst the extremist Muslims is what I was referring to. For example, Westernization almost sent Iran into civil chaos because of the implied threat of moral decline in the society, and indeed there was serious moral decline in Iran during it's Westernization debauchle. Crime rates climbed, drug use skyrocketed, and religious influence declined sharply. Modern medicine is mostly liscensed to "Western Civilization" and this includes Western Europe. It's just unnecessary fear of an implied threat of moral corruption. I do agree that the treatments should be administered without any incumberances though. Everyone should be able to trust their doctors and not fear established practices and policies. The policies are in place to help people and not hurt them.

the shit French people don't get is that alot of girls want to (actually choose to) cover up. it is a choice. As in for those countries that choose to force their women to doing this, is there buisness, I don't get why France cares so much. They're the sluttiest people around.wtf.

Most of the confusion comes from not understanding other culture's traditions or worse, lack of respect for those traditions. Most people in the "Western" world are plagued by the psychological dogma that Muslims are heathens. We can thank both Christianity and Islam for this. There seems to be an unyielding wall between the two religious nations that for some reason also seems to define interaction between the two. Since the Crusades, mutual ignorance has created an unchecked cycle of violence and stereotypical misunderstanding. People should learn more about someone before actually taking a critical stance for or against them.

Susa I don't mind your jibba-jabba about us froggies, but your apparent lack of common sense is really making me sad. We don't give a fuck about what a few extremist muslims, men or women, will do regarding their religion. But hey, genius, if you go at the hospital for whatever reason, there is a pretty good chance that you'll have to a few clothes off. This is how medical cares are conducted there. If you are checked for breasts tumor, you'll get you titties squizzed, no way around that. Yet, as mentioned before, thospitals try to provide female medical staff in such cases, as much as they can. If they can't, it's not a reason for the husband to get mad and start fighting with the staff. Because it is what's happening now.
Medicine has nothing to do with religion, whether it's Islam, Christianity, Judaism, or anything else. When you come to a laic hospital to seek medical care, you accept the rules. They even try to respect people believes in any possible way. But respect must be MUTUAL, and you must not prevent them from doing what they must do to help you. If you don't agree, nobody forces you in.
And last but not least, there are not more rascists in France than anywhere else. We just require respect from BOTH sides, which tends to sound like an insult, apparently.

Good point Kart. Mutual understanding and respect or the effort for each is often looked upon as un-patriotic or sympathizing with the other side. Religious or not, lets hope people can shed their ignorance!!

Hey, when I spend a lot of time overseas I don't dress in blue jeans and a stained wife beater. When you're in someone else's country, you fit in with their customs. If wearing a burka is that important, then don't fucking move to a country where it's not cool and fucking bitch about it. No one's fucking forcing muslims to go to France or anywhere, they just go because they think they'll have a better life. They want it to be like their country, only wealthier and with less hardship, but don't realize the reason the country is better than the shitty place they left is because the people aren't religous fuckheads like they are.

You should not apologise for your president. I don't like Chirac either, but since he's not me I see no reason why I should assume his mistakes. You know I don't want to look like I'm defending France in any way. It's my nationality but I mostly lived abroad.
My favorite singer is Tom Waits, fav band is Lounge Lizards, fav directors are mostly americans, and many actual technologies that makes our lives more comfortable are american. We eat american culture on daily basis, along with our own. We're not stupid enough to beat our horse. So it should be pretty easy to get past this diplomatic skit, at least on our side.

Ok Wanko, based on your reasoning our troops in Iraq should be governed by Islamic law, grow beards, and wear robes. Brilliant. Everyone in Germany would be forced to wear Lederhosen regardless of nationality. In Holland you would be forced to wear wooden shoes(not fun, tried it) and in France you would be forced to take a 2 hour lunch break. Additionally when you're in America I'd better see your stupid ass in a Native American head dress. Stay in the realm of reality you Sizzle Dick Dumb Shit Cock Smoking Cultural Nazi!

I am in the realm of reality. It's pretty damn obvious you don't go to some countries and show the bottom of your feet to everyone unless you want trouble. You don't come here and wave at people with your middle finger unless you want to get punched out. You don't go to India with a t-shirt of shiva getting fucked up the ass by a bull. You put on your fucking pants when you leave the nudist colony. We don't like it here when people kill cats and eat 'em, and they don't like it in other places when people kill and eat the delicious animals that we crave. I'll say it again, if it's that fucking important to wear a burka at all times, then live in a country where that shit is cool. I don't walk around with my pecker hanging out and 666 tattooed to my forehead and expect everyone to be nice to me, give me a job, let me in their taxi, etc.
