Roland, i've spent more than 8 years being outraged by my government. After watching bush tear apart the bill of rights i noticed a trend. Those in office who try and take away the rights of the people most often are conservative republicans. So yes, in that manner you might say i "tow the liberal line" in assuming someone with more liberal values is less likely throw my rights away. That being said this asshole isn't talking about how our government is fucked, he's talking about how our economy is fucked and our government isn't doing anything to help the situation. He's talking out his ass and not offering solutions or idea's to change things, any he sounds like a fucking nutball who's two steps away from claiming its all a giant conspiracy.
As for my point about deregulation, that is the answer most libertarians provide for how to fix the economy, a completely free market. Its bullshit because free market greed is what put our economy into the shitter, it sure as hell wont fix it.

As far back as speculation & the ability to 'invest' is something has existed, bubbles have grown & burst.
It isn't just the greed of corporations or the lack of government regulation, any more than it is the fault of the average investor. People want something for nothing, or at least a little more for a little less.
That coupled with the fact that every country will try to grow beyond the value of goods that are being produced & sold, means there will always be a boom and bust. Followed by a huge fuck up where everyone loses the money that they had but didn't actually exist in the first place because that value of what that money was based on turns out to be complete bullshit.

The banks needed no encouragement to exploit the sub prime market. Some bright sparks came up with a stupid formula and we're left paying with our money debts accrued with our money paid off by government bailing out those looking after our money with our money whilst paying themselves sizable bonuses with our money whilst losing all our money.
Maybe the didn't need it but they sure as fuck had it and they also knew it didn't matter what risks they'd take because they'd get bailed the fuck out. And they did get bailed out, which means there's now no reason for them to ever try to come up with a stable business plan.
What does all this mean? What can all of this possibly point to?

I agree entirely that the bill of rights is destroyed, the government believes they can do whatever they want, but to try and suggest that there is no reason to emphasize the reasons to be afraid is absurd. I don't live my life in fear, I understand fear and I hope that you do the same, it sounds as though you, several others here, do as well. But to argue about whos penis is smaller or who is dumber when the common points seem to be concerning how the government is dicking over it's population, some might start to wonder just what your points ever are.
To suggest that the government is a trust worthy group is going to harm anyones credibility. I would hope that in -any- situation, the boss is at least suspicious of it's employees, the government here is our employee. To feed the fire of negatives concerning the government is something that -needs- to be done. Giving a shit isn't a side job, men and women should be ripping their hair out when they hear about the billions of dollars of aid being given to so many other countries, but then you find that you cannot afford to keep standing on your own two feet. How often do you see bums? Have you ever been involved in a food shelf? There are more than a few people living in poverty in the USA.
Would you rather people sit around and listen to stories about how cops did something heroic like arrest a bunch of guys selling drugs to those who are buying something they fully understand? Or would you rather hear stories about how the corruption in the US is coming to an end and how poison asian products are no longer coming to the US because it simply isn't profitable?
Let people do what they want to their own bodies, tax foreign companies like hell and put huge tariffs on importing products, put a single term limit on every seat in the government and make it a 6 to 8 year term.
