Change Raising Con

Its funny, I used to do this when I was a kid all the time when I stumbled onto it while at 711 once, so me being the horrible child, tried it again and it worked, over and over, although this kind of explains why it worked so well.

Nice theory. A little pompous to consider it fact just because you think so. It's much easier to use a quick con at the post office where you can always depend on the laziness of a gov't employee to help your raquet. It didnt mention that you need to make sure there are other customers in the store to help with the distraction.

Naw, after your drawer comes up short at the end of the day you pay more attention in the future. To many losers in the states trying to scam all the time, so you have to get a little more sophistcated than this. Although I agree with the human brain part OB. Advertisers take advantage of that fact with "jingles" all the time.

    mililaniguy 2007-07-08T23:38:48Z says:

This will only work if the person behind the counter gives you the whole ten bucks, while you give her the nine. If she counted the nine bucks, before handing you the 10 bucks, it would have spoiled the ruse, because she would ask for the extra buck before giving you the ten, and then you wouldn't be able to say, here's the ten back, can I have the original 20. I guess it would still work, if she had Alzheimers or something. This probably works best on old people.

    NeoNitride 2007-07-09T22:52:29Z says:

There is a similar trick I heard about in the USA. You order something that costs less than 10 or so. You hold a $20 in your hand, makin it obvious you have a $20 out. When you go to give the guy/gal money you substitute a $10 bill. When they make change for the $10, you stop them and say you gave them a $20 not a $10. They end up giving you $10 plus the original (correct) change. If you are lucky, and they are really distracted/dumbass. Might even work with a $50 to get an additional $30+ back.

  • NeoNitride
    NeoNitride 2007-07-09T22:55:57Z says:

Or you simply give the $10 instead of the $20 and make the difference. Last Christmas I got back a counterfit $1 bill that had Santa Claus instead of George Washington in the middle. I stupidly gave it back to them to get my full change back, shoulda kept it.

I don't think this would work. Maybe on old people like that. But I use to be a cashier and if some douche is bugging me for change three times at the same time you'd know somethings getting fuxed. + who gives someone change without counting what they were given first?
