hahaha thats just what i thought that movie would be him pulling guns on people for 2 hours
i could have done without him singing at the end of the movie... but the rest rocked.
every actor sucked in this movie with exception to Clint Eastwood. i thought it was a liberating movie and i enjoyed the symbolic ending much like John Wayne's last movie, The Shootist.
I literally just saw this movie a couple of days ago. Clint Eastwood is so badass in this film. I've actually never seen any of his movies previous to this.
check out Dirty Harry, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Unforgiven, and Mystic River. you should enjoy them if ya liked Gran Torino

I disagree, almost every character in that movie plays exactly what most peoples racial stereotype of them would be, and in the end, no one except clint really breaks the stereostype. I guess its more like racial barriers for old angry white men can be broken down, but everyone else doesnt change
clint eastwood started the movie as a racist, and ended the movie as a racist.. his 'racial barriers' didn't change one bit.. like is said up there, just because he played a racist doesn't mean he played a 'bad person'.. just a person who is racially ignorant, he even knew that, so did his neighbors, thats why they put up with him because the point of the movie is you can't teach an old dog new tricks :P

He slowly leadt the aprecciate the fact that they werent just what he assumed thatem to be. The gilr & the boy slowly intriduced them the theire world which he bean to appreciate as something other that 'god eating barbarians'.

That's not how I saw it, you must have missed the part where he and his white friend insulted one another in a racist manner. He held real racist animosity though against asians as a result of his past, but then saw through it and regarded the nips gooks as just people the same as his mick, kike, or wop friends or whatever.

I think respect and opening one's mind were the overriding issues in the movie. The 'gooks' and 'zipperheads' next to him, ended up becoming his true family in the movie...whilst his 'real' family were just a bunch of money-grabbing, greedy cunt, average Americans...wanting to get what they could out of him.
The movie was kinda like Karate Kid in reversed roles.
