A qualified white dosn't get the job because the employer has to accomplish a certain vacancy rate of minority workers EVEN if the black one isnt that qualified...

There's never enough police officers so that situation wouldnt happen the only time it would happen would be if a promotion was up for grabs. And the white guy would usually come out on top.

affirmative action does NOT even apply in today's work force. I cant think of one company that there are not equally qualified men and women of all nationalities.
Its not like a person with a high school education being black or white has a better opportunity at a job than a person with a PHD. you guys are implying that a company has to hire a stupid person and let go of a qualified educated one. not the case.
and I don't even see how affirmative actions even related to this conversation. the guts singing abilities have NOTHING to do with his position as a police officer... excuse me, he looks like a sargent. So hes more qualified then most of the people there.
The only worry I have is that if the dude knew that he was going to sing the anthem (and I can't imagine that they would spring something like that on him, given that it seemed to be a memorial [black band over the badge]), you'd think that he would, at least, try to learn the words to his own national anthem. This kind of half-assedness, especially from a sergeant, I would find worrying if I were in his juristiction. Why race has to enter to it, I have no idea. A tool's a tool, be they singing the anthem or commenting on it with mindless racism here.

RyogaVee you might be shocked if you know how many people get a job because a company doesn't have enough of this minority type or that minority type. I know from experience that companies like MCI (and MCIworldcom) and Microsoft both hire people who are not qualified for anything but a racial or sexual profile percentage.

America is the place where the saying “land of the free” was coined, in sentiment if not in fact, by slave owners. Think about this for a second. “This is the land of the free, by God, and right over there is where my niggers live.” The mentality is that these people do not count. They do not exist within any conception of what makes a human being; that is someone who deserves respect and freedom. How much has changed?
Quick story, and its true. I worked for many years in a shitty customer service job in the same establishment. For a while I worked with a Sikh dude (Indian from India, for the Ruprects among you), and where I’m from these brown people are a minority of note for attracting racist fuck-ups. On several occasions I saw customers who I’d known for years to be reasonable, sensitive, good customers fly off the handle with him in a completely ignorant fashion because of very minor slip-ups. To him, they were simply asshole customers, and racism didn’t enter into it. What was really going on? I’d never seen that side of them. Guess what race I am? The thing is, they probably didn’t even realize what they were doing. Now think about those same people hiring someone. Who are they going to be choosing?
So here I am. I’m white and middle-class, and I’ve never had a door slammed in my face because of what I am. I sure as fuck hope that I am WAY more qualified than a person who’s family had to claw their way out of poverty against every intention of the people who used to own them. If I can’t make that cut, with every advantage that I’ve been given, then I sure as fuck don’t deserve the job. I’m sure a lot of good, hard working white people were sorely pinched when slavery was abolished. It still had to be done.

I've been reading a few of these posts about this whole 'Affirmative Action' thing and it seems there’s allot of arguing over nothing...I live in Canada and we've had that law here for years now...It's really just one more thing that everyone makes a big stink about before it's sent up to be made into a bill, then it gets passed, everyone complains and says more shit, then eventually we forget about it and life goes on, no big deal.

The only places your actually going to get people with mental disabilities or any other forms of delaying draw backs are low paying entry level jobs (fast food joints, mail rooms etc.) not like those type of people aren't already there...now they'll just be more of them
