Well THIS photo may be fake, but I know for certain that small dogs do get used as shark bait. Mammal blood, live or dead mammal and offal have all been banned in most western countries as bait, but some people still use dogs illegally. Think about it....a nice little chihuahua....put the hook through the skin on the back so it doesn't die, but it does bleed, struggle and make a shit-load of noise......perfect shark bait...
I'm a froggie and I can tell you, this is real. This photo as well, it is pretty well known in France. The dog on this pic has been found while returning at his master's home. The guys who did this got arrested, and are now anally molested in jail for a long long time, it seems.
That nice fishing technic is quite marginal, and police efforts tends to eradicate it as much as possible. It is now replaced by the popular and less cruel alive children bait. Up to 10 years old. teens tends to be less attractive to the shark, due to massive acnea and lacks of genital hygien.
i seriously doubt people are using dogs as shark bait....No matter what it says on the internet. I mean think of the practicality..doesn't make sense.

dik, it does make sense. Think about it in dollars and cents. People pay a lot of money to buy good bait for fishing. I would pay at least $30AUS for enough bait for a day on my boat. Now go look in your local trading post or local newspaper. You often find puppies being given away for free!
