I watched the making of this on Discovery. They placed the boulders to keep the tide from washing away the sand through a GPS to place them in the exact place in order to be the most sufficient. They're already talking about making a second Island. Bigger than the first. But I don't see how that can be possible when they had a hard enough time getting the boulders for the outside foundation in the first place.

Tourist Visa is free for the first 60 days, elpiss, and $137 for the next 60 days. Alcohol is not forbidden - it's just forbidden for muslims (as you'd expect) and to go and live there permanently, you just have to provide a service that they can't get locally; you then get a worker/investor visa...much like US, UK, etc.

Yeah my dad just went up there (he was born there but his mom was a american citizen at the time) and he was with his wife and kids for 2 weeks and drove over 800 miles and spent less than $5 on gas... It is what happens when you live in a OPEC country that is still 3rd world, lol

Dubai is awesome. I'm in the Navy and I've been there twice. Asians, Europeans, etc all know about it. Very cool place. Tons of different types of people live there. I've thought about moving after I get out of the Navy.
