Rampage is up to fight Machida...It looks like Machidas keepin the belt for a loong time.. Bring on lesnar/mir. It be nice to see lesnar against fedor because you know thats will probably bring the most money the ufc/affliction has ever seen in a ppv
BORING AS FUCK. jesus christ who the fuck wants to hype up fights that never last more than 5 mins. it seems like all MMA fights are like this a bunch of dancing around and then like 15 punches and its over. watch boxing
HAHA! funny how people into boxing try to bag out mma. put the best boxer into a ring with the best mma fighter of the same weight class and see what happens in a no rules fight. yeah boxers do throw very nice precise punches BUT thats all they do and practice. you have to be versed in every aspect of fighting to be good at mma.
If anything this guy proves Bruce Lee right. JKD was taking the best parts of everything and putting it all together. Machida isn't strictly Karate he has a Jiu-Jitsu black belt and he also trains in other disciplines.
some friends and I took karate lessons when I was 13, don't remember a bit of it and I think the instructor was a pedophile so I quit after a couple of months
The Worl Union of Karate-do lists these, with the top one being the one you forgot.
GÅjÅ«-ryÅ«,
ShitÅ-ryÅ«,
ShÅtÅkan-ryÅ«,
WadÅ-ryÅ«,
ShÅrin-ryÅ«,
Uechi-ryū,
Kyokushinkai,
BudÅkan.
Of those, Kyokushinkai is one that is not so pure in origin, in that it was developed by a Korean, although Mas Oyama did study at his early stage under Shotokan's founder Funakoshi.
Who cares if it is pure in origin, it obviously has its roots in the techniques of Shotokan and Goju and has consistently kicked lots of ass. It's not like the current incarnations of the major styles of Karate are all THAT old anyways.
It's not about how old they are as much as where they come from that's all. "Korean karate" is sort of a misnomer in itself, Tae Kwon Do is its appropriate name. You don't see people calling Shotokan "Japanese Tae Kwon Do".
But like I said it's not totally pure only because of where the guy who founded it came from, not so much because of where he got his training from.
Maybe that outlook might make sense to Japanese people, but it seems bizarre to me. It was founded in Japan, by a resident of Japan, from Japanese and Okinawan systems.
You don't see people calling BJJ "Scottish Jiu-Jitsu" because of the Gracies.
Comments to Evans vs Machida

WTF? I always thought Karate was a joke. This guy proves Bruce Lee wrong.

That explains a lot.
And yeah those 2 punches to Evans' switch at the beginning of the end were awesome. Karate is no joke.
shotokan.
there are 4 main branches of karate:
1. shotokan
2. shito ryu
3. wado ryu
4. i-don't-remember
Hope i got the spelling correct.
Daniel LaRusso is a master of all four.

Ok, time to give Wikipedia a break.
Hope you're not talking to me n00b.
What? You think I could type that from memory, Taff?
