yeah I read about this shit in the paper, it was stressing about how easlily you can be fried doing that shit.....and I mean it isn't really worth that much.....just ask that dude......
Well I'm out of touch with the price for wire at your local hardware shop but world copper prices have skyrocketed even more than other metals or resources in recent years. This has lead authorities to go back to warning the population against extracting or stealing metal to sell including smelting coins (which to do at home is toxic and costs more than the metal itself), stealing wire and most famously drain covers.
You have to tell that to morons doing it and risking a federal offence. Government apparently is trying to tell the last few on the planet who still think they make currency which has a greater intrinsic than fiat value. Anyway like I said pretty much every metal has gone up in price so it doesn't stop the braniacs from coming up with such a brilliant, never-before-devised scheme to turn money into... money.
"Grim11".....You'd Hit it........? You must be an idiot to say that even after the fact that u just seen a picture of a fried guy, whom probably was on his puter the night before saying those exact same words "I;d hit it".....lol
Hilarisouly, it looks like he wrapped cloth around his hands as if that would keep him from getting shocked or something. When I first saw the writing on the pictures I thought it was gonna be another "priceless" spin off.
I wonder if he took one for the team so his buddies down the road could rape the powerlines once the power was shut off ?? I really did not know the used copper market was somethin worth dieing for.
And as for federal offenses - I think the penalty is death by electricution.
In England scrap copper has been rising in price from an average £700-£800 per ton , it is now abour £2500 per ton. British copper coins made before 1990 are almost pure copper and as such a 2p is now worth 3p as scrap. Though its still an offence to melt-down coins of the realm.

British Columbia man electrocuted in apparent wire theft attempt<br><br>
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS<br><br>
LANGLEY, British Columbia -- A 35-year-old man was electrocuted when he cut through a high-voltage line near a British Columbia Hydro substation, apparently while trying to steal copper wire, officials said.<br><br>
A utility worker investigating a power failure in this suburb south of Vancouver found the dead man in a normally locked underground junction box near a substation about 3 a.m. Monday, Hydro officials said.<br><br>
A preliminary investigation indicated the man, who had a criminal record, was attempting to cut a live wire when he was fatally jolted by about 14,000 volts of electricity, Royal Canadian Mounted Police Cpl. Diane Blain said.<br><br>
Rising metal prices have fueled a growing theft problem for numerous businesses, including Telus, the largest telephone company in the province, and the electrical utility. The price of copper has more than doubled, going from $1.98 on Jan. 1 to a record $4.04 per pound recently.<br><br>
"Last year we had a fellow who lost two fingers trying to steal Telus wires and now we've got a death," Blain said.<br><br>
"They'll steal anything that is metal," she said. "It has been a problem we have been battling for a long time."<br><br>

"It is on the increase," Hydro spokeswoman Tarina Palmer said. "Copper prices are the highest they've been for some time."<br><br>
Yeh, they had problems in Quebec a number of weeks ago. Apparently two people broke into the church and stole the copper piping. The headline was something along the lines of "Men Turn To God For Money"...like "god" gives a rats ass that they're stealing copper plumbing? He can manifest water anywhere he wants
For those wondering the source of this and much more gory goodness is ogrish.com. I used to spend shitloads of time there, even have a collection of all the beheadings on my comp, but stopped after realizing that my mind was breaking. Still it is fun stuff. Esp animal gore.
Yeah, it's a fucked-up thing to realize that you started out being disgusted by broken bones, but can now look squarely at bodies ripped into pieces while eating pizza.

I thought there was no copper in a high tension line-not strong enough. If it happened in Langley he was probably trying to tap power for his grow-op.
