It's the result of social programs, i.e., free money. The idea sounds good to help out minorities, the poor, etc. But after a few generations this is the result. This phenomena isn't relegated to just to blacks, it applys to any group targeted. Native Amercans for example...

It's almost the same type of situation in more rural areas.i lived in Ft Nelson BC...near the border of the Yukon for a couple of years and Indians were treated like blacks are in urban areas. There are more white people on welfare because there are far more white people. Your comparison isn't valid unless the ratio of blacks to whites was 1:1. The percentage of blacks on welfare is significantly higher than the percentage of whites on welfare.

Sorry for going to fast for you Wanko, try to follow along... You said that you need to take in the percentages of blacks to whites now if there are three times as many whites as there are blacks but there are three times as many black people who are living in poverty then whites the ratio now becomes 1:1 of people living in poverty, but like I said earlier there are more whites on welfare then black people.
You are doing a valid comparison when you put the percentages side by side, as you did three posts up. It shows that a black child is about 3 times as likely to be poor as a white child.
Now, if you want to show that a white person is more likely to be on welfare than a black person, you must do a similar comparison of the percentages. Say, compare the 29% of blacks families receiving welfare to the 8% of white ones, in 1994, which I assume is the year you are picking your numbers from.
By the way, by 1997, blacks outnumbered whites as welfare recipients, no matter how you look at it.
