Nonsense. And also nonsense that there's really much of a "story" to begin with. Rather than having an actual, solid story, Valve relies on vagaries and lack of depth to create interest.
lol thats funny, because im pretty sure you're in the minority on that one. Just because you're too dense to pick up the plot of the story doesn't mean its fucking vague. There's a lot to it, and if you dont have the attention span to find all the things that bring the story together in the game then you should be taking up an activity thats based more on your IQ level.... like finger painting.
Anyway. The first half life scared the shit out of me in several parts. It was a pretty bad ass game at the time, and the plot was good enough to keep me interested.
did you really just tell me to be careful? with tired guy? bigger men have handled him much more rough than even i ever could, if you know what i mean. *wink wink nudge nudge*
i have to agree with smatchy here, half-life sure did have a good storyline, and an even more interesting way of letting you participate in it, so tiredguy must've missed that entirely..
Ever bought a game on Steam? It takes about 8 seconds, and although downloading it can take a couple hours afterward, it's still a hell of a lot easier than going to the store (or ordering one), then inserting the fucking disc(s) to install it, and again every time you play the thing... Or hunting down no-CD shit... Once in awhile the Steam servers are down though, and when they are it's a total pain in the ass, yeah...
i had a bit of a hassle on steam the other week, they have titan quest and titan quest immortal throne for 29$ so i figure, i'll buy a couple copies, one for me one for deja and one for a friend... tried using paypal, and while 2 of them worked one of them would refuse to... so i had to call up paypal and they were like 'nope should be fine' BUT IT WASN'T! :P
anyway, steam is a great idea, what they should do is make a few games come out 1 or 2 days before the shelf release date, although that might get a bit insane for them...
downloading a game at 500K/s tho from steam isn't that bad at all in my opinion, especially when the checkout is generally quite painless...
not sure how you can not like halflife tho tiredguy.. i think its pretty immersive (at least halflife 2 seems to be), since we bought a couple copies of orange box... although portal is pretty awesome... i'm just waiting for our warhammer beta keys and for warhammers beta to relaunch so we can play it ;/
steams a video game distribution site, also lets you 'chat' while playing various games etc with their own instant messaging client... i believe its http://www.steampowered.com/ ?
i want to get into video games. I'm not up to date though. I should just say, up front that I really regret my mother circumsizing me. i want to know what it would be like to feel things again.
No, it's good. That doesn't mean I have to try everything. For me, having sex with a Thai tranny would be new, but that doesn't mean I have any interest in doing so.
i was too busy playing q3 arena the whole time people where going crazy about this game. (>.<) so the question is re-iterated, what is half-life? (and i don't plan to mess with no plantshit... ewww)
i used to play video games waaaay back when i was in my 20's. The sports games were all too easy. and now it seems like games IU'd be into like Call of Duty which my kid has, is just too hard
I think it depends what languages your dealing with. If was a German movie dubbed in English, it would bother me as much. Maybe it's because I live here that seeing japanese people all speaking english bothers me.
dubbed movies are lame.. you're sure to miss a lot of jokes or lines, because of bad translation, or because of lack of expression in the voice, for instance, the japanese usually have lots of emotion in their voices in movies, but the dubbed version are always so tame..
Comments to Halflife in 60 Seconds
blah blah blah indeed.
No way you can tell the Half-Life story from anything but first person perspective.
Nonsense. And also nonsense that there's really much of a "story" to begin with. Rather than having an actual, solid story, Valve relies on vagaries and lack of depth to create interest.

be careful there bub, he bites back. Well... Sometimes...

besides im so sick of every condescending sentence that spurts out of that blab-hole of his.
i have to agree with smatchy here, half-life sure did have a good storyline, and an even more interesting way of letting you participate in it, so tiredguy must've missed that entirely..
Steam is a complete hassle.
"a complete hassle"?
Ever bought a game on Steam? and you can install that game anywhere you want without having to take the dvd with you.
"Bought a game"?
yeah, bought a game. like he said.
"Like he said?"
"HankChinaski?"
"?"
"""?

wanko's out!
"I'm still in?"
"yes"!
"Yeah!" *Does a little dance*

What's 'steam'?
steams a video game distribution site, also lets you 'chat' while playing various games etc with their own instant messaging client... i believe its http://www.steampowered.com/ ?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_%28content_delivery%29
Wow. That looks exciting.
Or fun.
Or something.
I'm gonna buy something.
consumist
Hank doesn't even know what Slimbrowser is , he's hardly likely to know steam is he.......
Elchris, you mean 'Consumer', and no I don't know what slim browser is. I haven't bothered to look it up yet, either. Is this thing so common?
i meant consumist
Ok, I looked it up. It's just another web browser. So what?
Don't act like it's such a big deal, Fries, you faggot.
"Consumist" isn't a word.
sounds like a word. i keep mixing the languages
dictionary.com
no thanks.
Your loss.
only the cool kids don't want to learn proper english!
The only funny thing, when you first hear the gun noises... That was really unexpected. I actually lolled.
hahaha thos whole animation was hilarious and ive never even played halflife!
it fits with most fps
the first half seemed to fit well with the Doom story, too.
Half-Life is the alltime greatest video game series
sort of..
i want to get into video games. I'm not up to date though. I should just say, up front that I really regret my mother circumsizing me. i want to know what it would be like to feel things again.
so what game system do you reccomend?
you scare me^
otherwise; try xbox 360, or just a pc game. 360 is the only one with actual good games on the market right now, wii and ps3 are both not there yet..
i prefer pc games though.
hahah this was funny as hell!
"hai, ich bin Alyx" and "blablabla, mr freeman" really had me laughing. funny shit.
"Gordon's alive !"
oh wait thats Flash Gordon....
They should have spent at least a 1/3 of the video showing him hacking the wall with his crowbar. I always loved doing that.
What's Half-Life?
How long your life will be if you keep messin' with Plantshit.
damn you, hank, you wouldn't play it before!
Is that the game you were talking about?
yeah, you noob!
you should just try playing a goddamn videogame for a change ;D
dare to cross that line hank, is it that bad to try something new?
No, it's good. That doesn't mean I have to try everything. For me, having sex with a Thai tranny would be new, but that doesn't mean I have any interest in doing so.
Not trying to see up schoolgirls' skirts when they ride past me on their bikes would be new, but....nope. No interest in trying that.
Maybe I should post 'First!' some time. That would be new.
i was too busy playing q3 arena the whole time people where going crazy about this game. (>.<) so the question is re-iterated, what is half-life? (and i don't plan to mess with no plantshit... ewww)
but the getting banned part wouldn't be new, right?
lol
Ever play Counter Strike Hank? HL is from the same engine.
hahahahahahahahah hank playing counter strike? hahaha!
Hahahahahahahahah!! Me playing Couter Strike? Hahahaha.
No.
Cooter Strike sounds ok.
hank does not dare to try any other form of entertainment than his trustful books!
bookwurm :D
I watch movies. I hike on the mountain by my house. I take my dog to the park. All very entertaining.
argh, you get my point, noob!
I don't think you get mine.
oh, i do.
i still want you to try at least one half life game!
it's better than sex with a thai tranny!
Why don't you try to convert dik?
hmm haven't tried that yet. but that doesn't matter. my goal is to let you try one good game.
I like backgammon, chess, cribbage, hide and seek, trivial pursuit, monopoly, chinese checkers.
I'd like to learn Mah Jong, but it looks pretty difficult.
i used to play video games waaaay back when i was in my 20's. The sports games were all too easy. and now it seems like games IU'd be into like Call of Duty which my kid has, is just too hard
I'd*
don't take every word i say literally , for once, hank. noob.
ever played half life 1 or 2, dik? you should try it ;D
it's single player, so it can't be too hard.
When I have kids, I'm not going to buy them any video games.
How should I take your words, Vic?
you'll buy them video games hank. When you see how much it makes them go away
besides if you don't get them video games and nikes and all that shiznit they'll think they're losers
not gonna buy them that junk
yeah, and it seems that if you give them video games and shit they will end up growing up like most of us ms users ;/
INCENTIVE RIGHT THERE!
i'm talking about you twisting my words. you know i meant videogames, instead of normal boardgames or whatever.
Games are games.
Some are just more mentally stimulating than others.
but i wasn't talking about other games than videogames, you noob.
You weren't?
Hanks "Amiga" wont be able to run counter strike.
What are you talking about, Cockfuck?
cars are cars, hank, but a 4WD is not a truck.
hmm, let's try "a formula 1 racing car is not a convertible."
All games are games, but not all games are interesting. Therefore, video games suck.
^that doesn't make sense.
you can't say "Therefore, video games suck."
...
hank, at least try!
btw you have no frickin clue if they suck or not, know why? you've never tried one.. never!
plus, videogames differ immensely.
noob
::searches for torrent of Total Recall dubbed in German::
::Fails:: Damn - that would've been sweet.
in germany, all movies are dubbed in german..
Dubbed movies are fucking lame. Subtitles are much better. IMO
yep, it's funny, every celebrity has his own voice-over person in germany.
the german john wayne, for example.
Yeah, it's really weird to watch American tv shows and movies dubbed into Japanese. I don't like it.
ya i can't watch a dubbed movie at all
Dik, why don't you go check plantshit's comments in the pumpkin thread and weigh in with a comment or two.
i don't mind watching some movies dubbed, i usually prefer subbed.. but sometimes i'm watching them late and don't feel like reading :P
reading is hard
I think it depends what languages your dealing with. If was a German movie dubbed in English, it would bother me as much. Maybe it's because I live here that seeing japanese people all speaking english bothers me.
yah, dik, get your ass to that thread, NOW!!
dubbed movies are lame.. you're sure to miss a lot of jokes or lines, because of bad translation, or because of lack of expression in the voice, for instance, the japanese usually have lots of emotion in their voices in movies, but the dubbed version are always so tame..
same can be said about poor subtitles.... if you watch any anime you'll know what i mean..
i know what you mean.
It's fun to compare what they are actually saying and what the subtitles say.
anime is for noobs
Oh, no you didn't!
dik, you anime-noob!
