The barrel on a revolver only turns as the trigger is pulled, not like in a gas fed weapon where combustion cycles the action. The only way she could have lost her finger entirely is maybe from a super hot reload or if the muzzle was plugged.

The only way I see this possible is if her left hand enabled the cylinder from rotating completely and the bullet not being able to enter the barrel.The barrel will explode, especially with a 44 Mag., that's alot of gun powder. And the bullet has to exit somehow.

It's real. The gases from the chamber blew the finger off. Although this is generally the best grip for most pistols, it's an obvious bad choice for revo shooters.
That's a terrible grip for any pistol, your free hand should be supporting the trigger hand, not the front of the trigger guard. If you held a large caliber gun like that it would probably smack you in the face.
Thumbs forward is the appropriate technique. I agree though that the weak hand should be doing more than half of the gripping as it locks in with the strong hand. Revos are just too weird for me, thus I stay away from them.

well if you blow it up you can see the fingerprint lines and that the thumbnail is still intact so not escaping gases, maybe a recoil mishap although i don't see how, could be a ricochet i guess but with a 44 mag it should have taken her whole hand off
I've fired my .44 mag many times and except for a hugh recoil nothing bad happened to me. This might be fake unless she held her hand over the barrell. Plenty of women I know have shot my gun with no injury whatsoever.
I suppose it's the same with any activity, no matter how safe they have been in the past, there's always one idiot that's capable of fucking it up.
