That presenter was a complete dick. The kid should have told him "that if he was offended by it and if anyone else that they should not look in his direction. Freedom of expression is an important thing, many things can cause people to be offended, I mean hey just because im offended by fat fucks looking like whales that are everywhere now days does that mean they shouldnt be allowed to be fat fucks? hell no they can be fat fucks if they want to be. Wow the second half was pretty good, the kid compares Bush to Hitler and the mom compares the O' Reilly factor to the holocaust.
Although I rarely see any footage of it, it's amazing how sometimes this guy can put forward a well thought-out interview instead of simply going out on the attack blindly.
And he had a point. It's all well and good to use freedom of speech, it's there to be used after all. However if you begin to take advantage of it for expression which arguably has no merit or intrinsic value, it endangers that privilege of freedom of speech as people grow tired enough of pointless expressions to be willing enough to curb their own rights to relieve themselves of the onslaught of meaningless and even destructive messages.
Just as lack of freedom of speech arguably damages society, abuse of it can do the same. It's also a responsibility not just a right.
Bill O'reily always tries to see the bad in shit.. I think this is a good idea as a costume.. dressing up as a dead person is no more offensive than dressing up as hitler to some people, because everyone knows someone who has died...It's awlays about offending others, Im tired of that bullshit.. mind your own God damn business and let people do what they want with their own lives unless its phyisically harmfull to many people around them. If you are offended by a halloween costume then I think you've got to ask yourself honestly wether the problem lies in the person wearing the costume, or your view of the person wearing the costume. Why would anyone be offended by a costume on halloween? Isn't it obvious that the reasoning behind the costume was purely for the sake of this once-a-year occasion?
COTB, I understand your point about abusing freedom of speech, however I don't believe that ANY costume worn for halloween 'pushes the boundries' of freedom of speech, it's just a piece of clothing after all and the reasoning behind it is a holiday that everyone in the world is familiar with.

I never said it pushes the boundaries, he's sure as hell free to do it and though most people will think it's quite childish and idiotic they will tolerate his right. I simply think that using that right for the sake of it, as the boy and his mother were originally stating, is an immensely stupid thing to do for the reasons I stated previously. But hey that's just me freely expressing my opinion.
Secondly he did at various times suggest that he wore such a costume as a statement and not just as a piece of clothing. But it's difficult to tell if he really meant what he said as by that time he was reaching for any excuse as a justification including the opposite.

Okay I think this kid did a great job on his costume. Halloween is about costumes that make an impact and scare people lately there has been a lack of these I saw only 10 true costumes this year the rest were just masks and jackets. 1) He made an impact everyone flipped out abut it. 2) he scared people, how many little jewish kids did he get to run home and hide in the hidden spaces in their attics? I bet lots. Good costume.
