    Combiming the Aliens and Predator franchises was never Fox's intention, but since Fox owned the rights to Aliens and the fact that the AvP comic books were so popular, they decided to throw an Alien skull into Predator 2 to give the fanboys a kick. The AvP film is a spin off of the two franchises, and not a continuation of either series.
