I saw where Tesla was using the coils as free moving electric energy and can make lightbulbs light up without putting them in sockets and the electricity doesn't effect the people around it, it's actually pretty neat

Yeah, supposedly they have that in development for mass production. In the next ten years, we may be able to power homes with a free standing generator and you won't even have to plug things into the wall anymore.

Trout and Drumrave... it is all really old technology really. Nothing new. Look up Nikola Tesla, the guy who came up with all these ideas. He also invented AC power.

ThoseUnknown, yeah, I know it's old news but the new news is that they're finally getting it ready for private home use.

    • drumrave
      drumrave 2008-12-08T05:50:39Z says:

Yes I know he also invented the induction engine, used by Tesla motors, and Thomas Edison hated him because Edison was in favor of DC current
It's kinda why I said "I saw where Tesla..."

Some new tech has been developed where you have power points pre installed underneath your counter top or desk or whatever. You just place whatever appliance (equipped for reception) you have above the power point and it is powered wirelessly, probably stemming from Tesla's research in some manner.

tesla was one of the greatest inventors to every have lived, unfortunately for him he was horrible with how patents work so all of his designs were completely ripped off by various other people... it didn't help that edison had a huge smear campaign against him because edison wanted dc current to power the world... imagine that.. having a power plant every block because of the limitations of dc power ;/

      poor tesla :P

      bigsmokedogg 2008-12-08T08:28:41Z says:

tesla's flowing energy never came into practice because it is impossible to meter therefor charge some1 for. his financial backer dropped out because of lack of profit making abilities. no one will ever have appliances that can be powered wirelessly in their home becauase there will always be some1 finding a way to rip off your power supply

      El_Wanko 2008-12-09T01:33:35Z says:

Wireless is cool and all except that if your 200 watt TV or something is wireless, that means you have at least 200 watts in electromagnetic energy passing through you as you watch it. Tesla's idea was great except for at the time we didn't really understand how harmful all this shit is.
