i think torture is ok if yorue POSITIVE the info gathered will save lives and protect form terrorist attacks.
oh that same note if it turns out you tortured the wrong guy it should be publicly announced an appology and serious restitutions to that person or people in question so there is no doubt about secrets or coverups or anything of the sort.. and also penalties/sanctions against the offending nation/government. this way they will seriously think twice about using those methods and make damn sure they have the right man.

Look at torture like you do insulin . Obviously, you don't want to give it to everyone but there are circumstances when it needs to be used. You have to know that its necessary before administering it but if done correctly you will either have a) concious diabetic or b) the information that you need.
