Like any genre of music thats new, people will try and milk it for all its worth while it still has a novelty about it. This might be a new genre of comedy created by The Simpsons (no, I don't still watch it but I can appreciate the fact that without its existance Futurama and Family Guy would be different cartoons). Family Guy is funny but, like Futurama its originality is diluted simply coz it is too similar to the Simpsons.
Southpark, however; Takes as little as possible from Matt Groening and Sam Simon, only because its voice would still be heard with or without any other cartoon or comic norm. (Despite its popularity decline in later episodes.)
I respect anything/anyone that pisses people off with a cause.
Simpons HAS lost it but i still watch it, i love south park and family guy but i wish south park hadnt pointed out the "remember that time" cos i keep thinking about it every time i watch family guy even though they are so funny sometimes.
If you were to count the amount of laughs people got from both series's i bet they would be nearly the same, some south park's are really funny some family guy's are really funny some south parks arent funny........ and so on and so on. Though Cartman is really doing it for Southpark lately. He's south parks homer(not literally).
