You need to get in there and poke around to make sure any pockets of pus get burst. This one wasn't very impressive. Too much blood, not enough pus. We had a great one come in a few weeks ago at work.

I got a skin infection on my shin when i was 21 that ended up looking like that. It was swelled up and tight from pressure. the doctor told me that he wouldn't lace it so I did it myself at home. I couldn't believe how much puss and blood came out of it. When i went back to the doctor the nurse dug in the cavity like the one in the video. Looked terrible but felt great to get all that crap out of it.
you gotta pack it with gauze and change the gauze like once a day or even twice.. and i can imagine how much that hurts to do.
My appendix burst when I was 14 and in order to keep the wound from going septic they had to leave the incision open and pack it with gauze, I had to change it 3 times a day and when you pull the gauze out it brings a layer of nasty necro shit with it. Yeah it hurts like someone pinching your insides. Anyways...yeah
