Makes you wonder how the British can still joke about Osama, considering he blew up a few of their buses and subway trains a while back.

The best thing about boning biddies is that 1) they sometimes have no teeth, and 2) they're always grateful and really know how to cook.

Fuckers probably blew up their own buses, it would explain a lot.

These cameras are fucking stupid. It's been proven time and time again that lower speed limits do nothing to prevent accidents or save lives. In fact, lowering the limit usually results in an increase in accidents. The only thing it does do is tax people and allow expansion of the police force.

Red light "safety" cameras result in more accidents at the intersections they are installed in. But don't worry, they're there for our safety. Not just an excuse for more fucking cameras watching everything we do and a fucking cash grab. Basically the governments are killing people to make more money, and telling them it will make them safer.

So, are you brits gonna for the new ID cards? You know, the voluntary ones in which you are essentially treated like a crimminal in order to obtain. And if you don't get them, you won't be allowed a passport or passport renewal, so they're voluntary if you agree to be trapped within the country.

I don't see a problem with ID cards, that's basically what your passport or drivers licence is. The government want to make them compulsory, still no probs, but they want to make us pay a small fortune for them which is completely out of order.

      El_Wanko says:

Passport and drivers license require a photo and birth certificate and some people to vouch for you and that's it. You're not getting your fingerprints taken or a face scan done, or listing every place you stay.

The Americans are fighting a similar card, which would contain an RFID chip in it. This would allow you to be tracked everywhere you go, with your wallet.

Both these programs go to far. Even if you beleive that the goverment has good intentions and will protect you privacy (they do not and will not - even now banks and credit agencies have access to an amazing amount of that 'private' information the goverment keeps on you), you can't want your fingerprints in a database or a chip in your wallet. That's just insane. And people don't see how insane that is, which is even more insane.

Adding everyone's prints to the database, tracking their movements, etc. That's how we treat crimminals. What we're in for is worse, because at least teenage interns at some subprime lending company aren't granted access to people's crimminal records!

Oh, and balls, if I told you the secret to the spaces, I'd be telling everyone. And then it wouldn't be cool anymore.

where are you getting your statistics? its one thing to be paranoid that the government is trying to track us with new ID cards, but to say that lower speed limits having a camera at a red light increases accidents? where is the logic in that?

      El_Wanko says:

For highways, look at Montana when speed limits were removed. Safest years on their highways, ever, with accidents dropping every year while it was in effect. The the federal government forced them to put the limits and enforcement back, threatening to otherwise cut millions of dollars in 'safe highway' funding. Immediatly, the trend turned corner, accidents began and fatalities began increasing.

For slower roads, a lowering of speed limits usually results in no change in the average speed anyway. It's been shown in several townships that lowering the limits in places where community pressure is strong, results in absolutly no safety benefits. The only thing that happens is ticket revenue rises.

Several american cities kept and published stats as red light cameras were introduced. The typical result is that accidents increase at all intersections in the city (because of naturually increasing traffic volume), but accidents (and fatalities) at the the red-light-camera intersections increase significantly more than at the control intersections. This happens time and time again. There are reasons suggested, but it doesn't really matter. If the red-light cameras increase fatalities, then the government is killing people for money and the population is fucking stupid enough to support it.

Evidence in the real world shows that the limits and cameras are not doing what they are claimed to do, and what we've been conditioned to beleive they will do. 'Speed Kills' is bullshit pseudoscience, following in the tradition of government and industry studies to convince us all that leaded gasoline is safe, flouride is great in our water, and DDT is healthy and wonderful.

Fugs, why should he find an argument of his own when it's easier just to jump into one that's already been started? It's the mucho way. I had like 4 or 5 coming after me the other day. Starts with one, but then others want to pile on, etc...
