i know a guy who gained 80 kg muscles by exercising (with hormones) and then got heart problems (so he had to quit). after one year the muscles decomposed and there was only a lot of fat and redundant skin left. - lol
Muscle doesnt "decompose" & turn into fat.
muscle does in fact deteriorate
muscles breakdown when the proteins are taken away to be used as energy, at no point does it turn into fat.
Muscles atrophy, which is different. Basically, each myocyte breaks down a number of fibers in it. Even if you lose muscle mass, you still have the same number of muscle cells.
Protein may or may not be taken away to be used as energy (only if there isn't another source). Mostly, it gets broken down so the body doesn't have to expend energy on upkeep of muscle it isn't using.

train every dag and drink your protein drinks and you get strong....I started when i was 13 .
but still i have reach a level i cant get weaker at if i would take rest for some months.

Smurf, you were saying that those protein drinks aren't necessary. And I've heard it from others. But I don't buy it yet, because it seemed like it really helped me. Is it all a placebo or something? Did anyone ever do a controlled experiment to see if they worked or were just a waste of money?
That question is for Smerf, too.
Protein shakes are only a SUPLIMENT to a good diet. If your diet is out your ass and all you take is protein shakes then it voids its purpose. Personally I find protein shakes most beneficial before and after a workout...before to try and replenish some of the nutrients lost during a workout and after so to not turn catabolic from lack of food (30 minute oportunity).
