To me the NHS, with all it's flaws, is the best way of controlling healthcare. There is no argument that sways me from this opinion. Insurance companies will always dodge paying anything, health or otherwise.

Well the one thing is that insurance and medicare doesn't pay the bill. They pay what they want to. A clinic can bill $3000 for an xray but they're only getting $400 back, and you never see this you just know it got paid. You go into that clinic where everyone else has insurance, and you don't have insurance, the price is still $3000. There's cash-only clinics where they'll just bill you $400. But then you get to a big fucking hospital that only does $200,000 operations and there's no cash option, so as a little guy you're fucked. If you had insurance they'd probably pay only a fraction of it because they can and they can defend themselves in a legal battle, but you can't.
Plus the insurance companies are only pulling in about a 3% profit. It's billions of dollars profit but that's because its on trillions of dollars in transactions, not like they have a huge profit margin. Make them non-profit while keeping everything else the same and it's only a 3% difference. Those guys are regulated up the ass.
Too much money going around. If your fucking heart surgery was billed at $5000 instead of $300,000 then there'd be a lot less money to skim off the top at every point, a lot less to spend on unnecessary tests and equipment and the latest and greatest prescription drugs.

That's the kind of bullshit numbers they have for procedures. I used to joke about $5000 for a broken leg but apparently they bill insurance $26,000. So someone figures the time to set and cast a fucking leg is arguably worth 26k. WTF? How can you possibly justify that?

I was surprised when I seen her in recovery too. They shaved only the side of her head the first time and then shaved the rest afterwards but this time they only shaved where the incision went. Now all of the hair is matted up from the blood and solution they used to sterilize it. Can't wait for them to remove the stiches on Monday. All that hair is stusk to them.

As you can plainly see, toolwoman has gone through her fourth cranioplasty. This time, they put in a Titanium mesh skull flap to replace her original bone flap that they contaminated. The mesh plate was constructed in Germany which leaves with me a sneaky suspicion that Steven_Seagull had something to do with the making of, I don't know why. But the surgery was Fridat, she came home Monday, and they will be taking out the stiches on Monday. As of today, she's on the toilet as we speak making fun of the fact that she can't shit and I'm down here laughing my ass off at her. She's feeling better everyday now that the anesthesia has worn off. She's only taken four Vicadins in the last three days, none today, yet. So I'd say all in all, she's doig pretty good. I just hope nothing goes wrong again. She was terrified enough for this operation given the circumstances of what she's already gone through. Thanks all.
