    I first saw packet radio when I was barely a teenager. Maybe grade 8 or 9. It wasn't much but people were experimenting with BBSs and shit like that, and it was packets of data. So it was packets and it was public...no WWW on top of it though. You actually had to listen to the packets come in, like the handshaking sound your old modem made but over and over and over. Then BBSs caught on once everyone had a 386 and a modem. They were shitty and disappointing. You could play Wolf3D at home or log onto a BBS and play a text-based game. Some of them apparently had porn but it wasn't worth it, especially if you were on a 286 without windows.
