I am soooooo happy! TMNT 1 is the only movie I can recite line for line. Yeah, I was 7 or so when it came out, and saw it like 4 times at the movies, and watched the VHS tape so me 200 times plus.
I would be alot more excited if it wasnt a CG movie... The original movies were wicked... those suits and makeup kicked some serious ass... this look like the typical CG shit that you can see on most kids networks... what happened to the days of cartoons like C.O.P.S, Thundercats, M.A.S.K, ProStars, The original TMNT, GI Joe and He-Man??? That was a childhood... now its all shitty anime or CG remakes of the originals... Although the New He-Man was decent while it lasted...

Did they even make any new episodes for this beyond the early nineties? I didn't even know this was popular for the kids of today or is this aimed at those who were children around the time the cartoon and movies first came out?
uh anyone who is stupid enough to say this doesn't look good needs to stfu...
as a fan of the original series (the black and white graphic novels where any color art of them had them all as red bandanas) the art in this preview is pretty much exact (as a matter of fact if you look back at cover art from the original you'll see that they used it as a setting for the animation in this teaser)
if the trailer has any indication of how good the actual animation will be, its going to be a really fun movie to watch...
as far as the original movies being 'wicked' the first one was 'ok' the other one(s?) not so good...
if you have ever read the original graphic novels you'll know what i'm talking about :P
by the looks of this, it actually looks like they took the direction eastman and laird intended with the comic and are making it into a movie that probably wont be 'everyone friendly' as in, made more for people who were diehard fans of the original graphic novel series and were disapointed by cartoon after cartoon after shitty movie :P

@chairman_of_the_bored - yes, there is a new series out, its really good too. entierly new storyline and plot. but it still keeps the the root of things. Shreder is actually a badass in this one and takes no shit from anyone.
yak, I know what you mean. The original turtles were very intense fighters, they would kick the shit out of the bad guys, and occasionally would kick back and suck down a pizza, but they didn't talk like stoned surfer dudes. I rather liked the original 3 ninja turtle movies, just for their corniness, but would look forward to a more kickass, serious tone in any future movies, and for god's sake, stop changing the fucking bad guys!!!

Yak, I hope you're right. The only problem I have with a lot of the CG that we see now (Van Helsing is a perfect example) is that it never really looks like it's part of the scene. There are some cases where the CG blends so nicely that you forget part of what you're looking at is animated... But so much of it now, like Van Horrible or nearly anything that says 'Made for SciFi Channel' looks worse than a video game.
Since Hollyweird is doing pretty much nothing but remakes and big screen versions of tv shows, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see an ad for ...

The new cartoon is a hell of alot better than the old one but i wouldnt go out of my way to watch it, probly woudnt even bothar plus its on too early.
Would have preferred a real film with CG than this full CG one. I dont know its been years since i saw the originals.

yeah i wasd kinda turned off by the whole thing being CG, and the way the turtles look, but cus of yaks post imma have to look back at these graphic novels... i enjoyed the live action movies and the short lived live action tv show... ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY FOUGHT THE FUCKIN POWER RANGERS.... but yeah if the turtles were once a graphic novel than mayb this is where they might go with it in this movie... we'll find out when it gets it rating, but i would hold ur breath seeing as how they're probably gonna bandwagon of the success of the tv show and get a try to get a much younger audience that will whine and bitch and drag their parents to take them and their friends to this movie for their birthday.. NEHOO, would be sick to see serious version on the TMNT
Yak - Yes I've seen the Final Fantasy movie. I thought it was aswome to look at and the story kept my interest as well. I guess I'm trying to say that the problem comes in when they try and do live action with CG animation and they either do not have the budget or perhaps the the talent for it.
I love CG animation - if I didn't, I would not spend so much of my time working with 3dsMax, Maya, Poser, DAZ, Lightwave, ZBrush, and Bryce. I suspect the movie will draw a nice crowd based on nothing more than support from the existing fan base. I like what I've seen in this clip. It's very artsy and still had a nice action flow to it. There are things they'll be able to do with the CG turtles that could never have been done with the 'guy in the suit' versions and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
I doubt the TNMT will ever see the level of popularity it saw back when the 1st movie came out - but hey - you never know.
yes the biggest question is are the turtles the only CG or is the whole movie like shriek?.....oh and will cory feldman play donatello...........i hate the second and third movie.....only the first is on my dvd shelf............can anyone find a video of the turtles on oprah talkin about how theyre mom died lol........you remember that shit!? lol

I was flipping channels and I passed by Sci Fi. I had to switch back and sit there for like ten minutes before I could tell that it was Computer animated. The Final Fantasy story was weird, though.
i own the first four (coloured) graphic novels by first publishing, i just re-read them a couple of days ago, and the only black fella in them was baxter stockman!! could someone please upload a picture of the black april? i redad my fair share of tmnt comics, b&w and colour, cartoonbased and ´real´, mirage and image (which was much later), and i NEVER saw a black april...please convince me!!!

@RyogaVee haha April wasn't black you fucking idiot. She just had a 80's flashdance look. And the old pictures just had poor color reproduction that made skin tones look darker. She was not black, I know how much you'd wish she was black....if she was she'd have like 10 kids and a fat ass and the turtles would be hunting her baby daddy down for child support and GTA.
@yak: yeah, the b&w one, i thought we were talking about these! you can see how baxter (a black guy) is shaded and you can see how april (the obviously white woman) is shaded, just compare them and tell me she´s black! and, as stated before, i own the coloured first publishing edition of this one in which she is -wanna guess?- white too!
and there´s nothing mentioned on her wikipedia page about a change of her ethnicity,
she always was white!! it´s just baxter stockman whose skin colour was changed for the cartoons! just believe it! and since i know you won´t, i´ve already written an e-mail to the nice folks at ninjaturtles.com, i´m sure they can clear this up...
Black women as ALWAYS dipicted as being light skinned. Just the nature of things. Bpril was black, i red about it someone else before. just cause its not on Wiki does not mean its not true. there is A ton of stuff not on Wiki that i know about that no one else has updated.
just back your claim up somehow!!! the picture yak gave imho clearly shows a white woman, the comic page link i gave a couple of comments earlier shows a white woman (note that this was in the second issue of tmnt ever published as well as the first appearance of april in the entire series), just show me one picture of a black april o´neal and i will believe you!! my theory is that you just mixed up the facts: baxter stockman was changed from black to white for the cartoon (and from white to black for the new cartoon btw) and april was changed from being baxters lab assistant in the comics to being a channel 6 reporter in the cartoon (again it was changed back in the new series), just mix those two up, and you get "april was changed from black to white",
