I like Brazil and 12 Monkeys more but this one is great as well.

Have to disagree with Brazil. Definitely one of the worst movies I have ever seen. 12 Monkeys was good though.

I don't think he's actually made a bad movie. The Baron Van Munchausen was close to one and the Brothers Grimm wasn't fucking brilliant but compared to a number of directors he is a genius. Granted I haven't seen Tideland and that might be a pile of poo.

      UnclePepper 2007-10-23T22:11:13Z says:

hasn't he just done stardust too?
      he is a good director

    • cheekycov
      cheekycov 2007-10-23T22:27:51Z says:

Not his best work Yak. Compared to the Fisher King, 12 Monkeys or Brazil it just comes off second best. It was a mess. A big fucking glorious one but a mess none the less.

hahaha the baron von munchhausen.. i forgot about that one. i used to read the stories too, really cool. the film was ok, don't remember much of it.
      what's brazil about then?

    • Victorious
      Victorious 2007-10-24T08:42:17Z says:

and dik, where was he(gilliam) in the meaning of life? or life of brian?

    • cheekycov
      cheekycov 2007-10-24T18:27:35Z says:

In Life of Brian I think he was one of the prophets (the blood and thunder one), one of the jailers, and a member of the Peoples Front Of Judea.

In the Meaning of Life I remember him as a fish and a zulu announcer. I'm sure he was a couple of the other things but I can't remember what.

    • Victorious
      Victorious 2007-10-24T18:38:20Z says:

so no real big parts hmm? that's probably why i don't remember him.

I don't know if you'll see this Yak but there is some news about Gilliam on Empires web site:
      http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=21230

    • cheekycov
      cheekycov 2007-10-25T20:37:08Z says:

No Vic. No big parts. Mainly because he'd fallen out with a couple of them when Life of Brian was made and he was making his own stuff when Meaning of Life was made. He also directed the Secret Tournament adverts for Nike a couple of years ago (the ones set on an oil tanker with Eric Cantona).
