I'm American, but I really don't get into the hyper-competitive, hyper-materialistic facet of American thinking.

I'm gonna step in here and actually defend Hank.
First, any truly enlightend individual will have complaints about American policys, lets face it, there is a lot of room for improvment that goes far beyond any political parties. The economy is crumbling, people and businesses are going bankrupt the whole north American structure of economy needs a complete overhaul and no single political figure can possibly change it and the recent 700 billion dollar bailout is only going to make things worse by supercharging inflation.
Second, Hanks behavior in his posts is merely a way he blows off steam (I didn't see it at first I admit), everyone has their thing they do to relax and blow off steam. Coming into a comment section and blasting away at completely anonymouse people is much like playing multiplayer deathmatch, you release pent up frustration and anger and nobody gets hurt.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion and the only catch to that freedom is having the responsibility of being fully educated of the facts that support or disprove that opinion.
Never, ever take the comment section seriously remember it's just folks blowing off steam like a deathmatch game, the second you take it to heart is the second you lose and suffer the ultimate fail.
And most of all, its Christmas for fucks sakes, relax lets have a beer.
