True, resisting will get you an ass beating; however, if you have ever had the full weight of another person beating down on your throat with their knee, you would understand why he was reacting the way he was. When panic sets in, most physical reaction become involentary. This is just another example of a cop taking advantage of his authority.

I don't know, those punches aren't nice. What I do know is that the film starts when it's the cops looking bad, who knows what he did before the camera started. It's essentially only telling/showing one half of the story, and it's impossible to judge while that's the case.

Although i dont think the cop should have hit him, this all could have been prevented if he just followed the officer's request prior to being pinned down by the neck. oh yeah, it could have been prevented earlier if the guy just didn't break the law.

Just a few weeks ago I had guns drawn on me by local cops because they "mistaken me" for some one else they were looking for.
Ive personally been pulled over MANY times and had cops try and start stuff with me. But Im very docile and dont respond to intimidation, however most Americans cant help it and you end up with situations like this.
There is NO excuse for cops to pin a person like that. Its not safe for either party. The proper thing would have been to roll him on his belly and place the knee in his side or back, which is how Im sure they are trained to do. Those cops were relaxing on top of him making no attempt to situate him for arrest or detainment. And I'm sure a jury will look into those factors.
Some cops from a Chicago suburb were trying to pin a home invasion charge to him because they had no suspects. The cop called one month after he had been in the suburb visiting his girlfriend. The cop said that the dog smelled something in the car that day and they needed to talk to him. He got a lawyer and the cop was still trying to persuade him into saying he was guilty "it's no biggie, just say you did it, and we will turn it into trespassing" I respect cops, but that doesn't mean all are good.
Looking at this objectively, hitting a guy repeatedly in the face when you have you're knee on his throat is pretty harsh.
Maybe if he loosened the pressure on the guys throat, he would remain calm...

I got harrassed and beat down from cops just for being hispanic so I tried to avoid them as much as possible.. but when they pull me over for goin over the limit by 2 miles per hour... I got to get ready for the harresment and beat down again.
Lawyers told me if I put a camera in my car to catch them in the act , that I would get arrested for filming them with out their knowledge.

im no criminal.....i just have had run ins with cops....before i was driving id get harrased by cops constantly for walking down the street......questions like...do you belong here?....or what were you doing in that building?(mother fuck i wasent in that building)......or where you going....Why the fuck should i have to walk on egg shells around those fucks when i dident do anything......also iv had to call these fucks......they never show up untill the crimes done and over with....Ie my neibors house was getting broke into....Thats why people carry guns in florida...because you cant rely on the police.
Also anytime i was harrased by the cops they always had 5 fuckin cop cars there and 10 cops......Why......because there assholes......When they do more harm than fixing things there is definatly a problem.........Im no criminal i just hate having big brother up my ass all the time....and untill it happens to you all the time you wont know.
Also i have friends that are cops...there not all bad....but you know the saying about bad apples.

according to LA Times article, (i know those liberals aren't very reliable) multiple bystanders (independent witnessess) stated that the suspect ran from the cops. when he got caught, he swung at one of the cops, unprovoked. you can clearly see one of the cops attempting to gain control over the arms of the suspect to handcuff him, without success 'cause he's obviously resisting. you can hear the bitch that filmed it, (a friend of the suspect according to Kcal news) cursing at the cops as they're fighting. the cops knew the gangster as he is a known felon with an outstanding felony warrant. he resisted by evading. when he got caught, he took a shot at the officers. they're human just like us, and subject to anger, fear, and other emotions that largely control how we react in stressful situations. the officers, again according to police reports they filed prior to this video being made public, documented the fact that they punched the guy in the face to gain compliance. they didn't have reasons to hide their actions as they are perfectly reasonable. the guy is a felon, known gangster, who was drinking with his gangster buddies in public at the time he was spotted, and not only ran, but swung at the officers. frankly, i think the officers should've smashed his face to the curb. i've never been beaten by cops because i never allow myself to be in such position. the asshole had it coming.
also, another fact. close to 99% of all arrests made in LA do not involve any use of force by the officers. simply comply and they won't beat you. simple!!
some of you idiots sound like cops beat people up daily, on a whim.. how ignorant and stupid of you to assume so. cops in LA make hundreds (yes hundreds) of arrest daily without any use of force. i don't discount the fact that some cops are assholes but most of the time, they're not the ones initiating the fight.
look up how many cops get injured by the suspects during unprovoked attacks and you'll see that more of them get hurt than suspects.
one more thing. i've been detained by cops at gun point once. apparently, my store alarm had been set off by some idiot customer kid. not only did they apologize upon verification of my ID, they thanked me for complying with their orders during the initial contact. folks, when cops point guns at you, they're doing so for a reason and that's not the time to be arguing your innocense. i've also had a run in with an asshole cop on the freeway so i might have copped an attitude. i ended up with a rather expensive citation but i never got punched in the face either. it's really not that difficult not to get beat up by cops.
Whatever he did he deserved way worce than a couple of slaps on his nose and a knee in his throat, im sure of it!
