I agree with what you said about not resisting, but it will never change. People are always trying to rationalize thier situation and think that we give a shit what they have to say after the cuffs come out. There will be plenty of time to plead your case later. Besides....half the "suspects" walk later anyway.
He wasn't going after the knees. The shins are a 1 point area that almost ALWAYS demands respect. You can see that he cracked the shit outta that dude's shins. Perhaps that guy will think twice before he resists arrest.
They are clearly overstepping the boundries of what kind of force is necessary in this situation, it is clearly a case of extreme violence. I hate cops, but then again they are humans too and might not in all situations act accordingly to the rules and police policy. If one met 1000 assholes a day, one could snap in the end.
