are you serious? mia is pop? have you listened to anything besides her paper planes single? she was an obscure indie artist that no one had ever heard of before they used her song for pineapple express. everyone made fun of me for listening to her old stuff in high school but once paper planes went mainstream last year she was the coolest shit around. she has a much larger stake in world music than pop, and if thats the direction pop is heading, its much better than the bubblegum britney spears/nsync shit that it used to be.
but she is letting the mainstream success get to her head which sucks. shes all hipster now with wayfarers and weird makeup, but she was pretty normal back in the day.
bon iver was the best artist of last year but then this year on his second album he felt the need to throw a vocoder on some of his songs to get more mainstream success which made me lose all respect for him.
