They also cheapened its cost here by using software emulation for backwards compatibility instead of the chips the NTSC version comes with.
The huge discrepancy in price from other countries is primarily down to Sony having to agree with their Blu-Ray partners not to sell so low that their standalone Blu-Ray players would be priced out of our market.
As always we get the latest technology last and must pay even more than others to get it. Almost better off going up to Hong Kong to do all your shopping.

I didn't like them when I was a kid, either. I used to go over to my friend's house in the uni days. There'd be 5 or 6 guys all staring at the big screen t.v., while 2 guys played. Really cool.

i get your point, but i don't fully agree. you shouldnt be trying to replace conversations with real people, and walking around in the real world, with games. there's room for both in life, and i feel sorry for you if you can only have one or the other.. a good game once in a while is great.

well i recently got an xbox 360 and i can tell you it isnt that great, ps3 will blow the xbox and wii out of the water when the game developers finaly get to use all of the blue ray storage capacity and all of the 7 processors, i mean ps2 omg pwnt xbox and gamecube... ps3 will do the same... (or on the other hand it might be like psp vs ds which sony got RAPED)
