Ah... whatever. They're still gonna beat Microsoft and Nintendo in sales when it comes out. Sony has a whole lot of fan loyalty and the entire Japanese Market on it's side.

It's not HD DVD, its Blue Ray. Xbox 360 uses HD DVD. Yeah.. fan "loyalty" certainly counts. Nintendo owned 8bit and 16 bit eras but their fans switched sides to other companies. No console has ever dominated the market past 2 generations of systems. C'mon, do you really think there is anything unique about the ps3 in terms of technology. As for games, former sony exclusives are going to other systems such as GTA4.

As for me, I'm going to buy all 3 systems. However, I must say that my 360 is already collecting dust. I don't even play it that much because of killer apps on my PC.

JK is another one of the douche bags that buys all the consoles and says "they all have their strengths!" FUCK YOU DOUCHE CHOOSE ONE! I don't get the picture...the picture they released a long time ago was fake? Ok that doesn't change the fact that it's coming out in november with more units shipping than 360 has sold. And it's more "powerful" as all the fags said about Xbox to PS2, so go back to sucking Bill's cock you giant used bloody douche.

Oh, and the PS3 on the left is the $599 dollar version and the one on the right is the $499 version. Kinda like what Microsoft did with the core system.

A couple of months ago a newspaper quoted Sony saying that initial production would cost <them> $800-900 per unit (I assume in US dollars). The Economist today is quoting initial prices (notwithstanding price cuts by Microsoft and Nintendo) at $USD 499 & 599, EU499 & 599 in Europe and Y59,800 in Japan. To say one company has not dominated the industry recently is strange because the common figure put out in the business section, not the partisan shit-stirring games publications, is that PS2 accounted for 70% of all consoles sold in the previous generation.

Sony will make a loss at first, cost they are going to cost more to produce then what they will be solved for. BUt then they make a killing on the games and accessories. Sony will win the console war no doubt, the PS2 was more successful than the Xbox, despite the Xbox having more power. Sony has all the game developers on their side. Decent ones anyway.

for the kind of technology the ps3 will be showcasing, i'd say at this point that 600 is a steal, guyses. chairman and dex are right - sony will initially be at a loss..selling the ps3 for 'cheap' and kickin profit on all the accessories, add-ons, etc down the line. good stuff. sony, if youre reading this - i'd like an capcom vs mgs. thanks.

The SKU on the left is the E3 2005 model that they showcased, the one on the right is the final product. (It is the $499 version but the only difference on the $599 version is that there is ONE HDMI port) Those are in fact the official prices which Sony stated at their press conference at E3. As far as all those ports missing they really are, front and back. They were origionally going to have 3 ethernet ports - no more, just one. There was going to be two HDMI ports - now there is only one and its on the $599 version. The stuff on the front is on the $599 version which has Memory stick, SD, CF card readers.

Good point ChrisBurke. That was the exact same thing I said after the 2005 E3 conference, I knew they were going to ditch it since their Blu-ray is jacking up the price of the system anyway, Sony is just insane.

The true success of any system is how many games are available for it. The SNES had a fuckload and so did the PS2. Whether you call your system a Wii or a Spic, if it's got titles to play in it, it'll sell.

I'll wait for the price to go down, like I am for the Xbox 360, it's pretty much a given that 80-90% of a games released in the first year of a sytems life pretty much blows balls as developers get use to the technology and coding. Plus, the first batch of shipped systems tend to be inferior quality, later systems get better testing and bug fixing and hardware upgrade/changes.

Aw Xugaa you poor poor bastard so blinded by the Sony PR hype machine your nuts are tingling just waiting to blow your load all over your $600 hunk of mediocrity. Even on paper which was Sony's HUGE publicity move (as far as showing off the systems number crunching potential) it bearly beats out MS' system. The fact is that the PS3 can push slightly more polys due to the processor however the 360 has a much better graphics chipset which means AA/Motionblur/HDR with no tax on the hardware. It basically boils down to the titles as far as how sucessful the system is going to be which to be perfectly honest I see more titles for the 360 that interest me. NOT ONLY Sony is going to take at least a year to get games to look as good as they should on the PS3 but developers hate it too since they have to compile their code for each core which is a HUGE waste of time and will slow down production. As I said the Cell is a powerful chip however it is a huge bitch to program for, as was the "Emotion Engine" used in the PS2 and games didn't show off their full potential until the end of its life cycle.
