i dont think any of them actually broke their necks more like suffocation. there wasnt enough "snap" in the rope to break the necks. and the womans noose was on the side i think that helped her breathe a bit longer before the lack of blood flow took her as well.

You also have to take into account the blood being cut off to the head, most people will become unconscious after just a few seconds. Granted you will probably die from the lack of oxygen but the blood being cut off will put you out pretty fast.
