People don't like his comment because the first way most people would interpret what he is saying is that we should back down because now we see what terrorists can do to us. Is that what he's saying? It's hard to tell.
The fact is we didn't do a lot of things just to piss them off, thinking they wouldn't retaliate. We were in Afghanistan because otherwise the Russians would have taken over Afghanistan. We were in Saudi Arabia at their request, because we didn't want oil prices to skyrocket if Saddam continued to create instability. So the point is that yes we did piss them off, and maybe we didn't realize they could retaliate in such a heinous way, but if we did, all we would have done is tried to kill them more, not let the Russians have Afghanistan or Saddam dictate our oil prices.
The second thing that piss people off about his comments is, I think, that to say we "caused" the retaliation is a poor choice of words, because that makes sound as if their actions were justified because of what we did. But that is just wrong.
Perhaps a better choice of words is that our actions enabled them to do what they did, enabled them to fan the flames of hatred against us and recruit people who could attack us. The fact is that such evil, the willingness to take thousands of innocent lives for whatever purpose, cannot be caused in a person. That evil is either in a person or it isn't and no good man, no matter how provoked, would take thousands of innocent lives for any purpose.
Yeah, hmmm, sure, OK, whatever. How about the willingness to kill 1.5 million Iraqis by way of sanctions? Is that "evil"?

Ron Paul believes in the Constitution and votes against pretty much everything in Congress since he usually finds it unconstitutional. He wants government out of our body, religion, and wallets.

I agree Ron Paul is right in what he's saying about Iraq, but he could have worded it better. All he had to do was read this right out of the 9/11 Commission Report:

Ron Paul is probably your last hope yanks. The only problem is that your whole voting process is very shady. Using touch screen computers instead of paper gives the ballots zero credibility. The masons and other elites choose who gets into power.
Ron Paul is the reason Libertarians fail to be taken seriously. I would prefer to lean more Libertarian, but they seem to attract a lot of freaks like RP.
It's funny to see Europeans applauding this video which has a Sinclair Lewis quote at the beginning; Lewis opposed the entry of America into WW2...and we can only imagine how that would've turned out for you. Additionally, Libertarians oppose the social systems such as can be found in the majority of European countries. The truth is that advocates of the removal of Saddam have the privilege to respond to those who criticize them, and it's idiocy to believe that the language of the critics does not embolden the terrorists. I can only imagine if the police were attempting to arrest an enraged criminal, and there were crowds of people criticizing the police administration. Who would be most at risk? The policemen trying to subdue the enraged criminal...and the critics would then claim to be friends of the actual policemen they are endagering.
And Ron Paul is GROSSLY inaccurate about the death's of Iraqi's; they were dying by the thousands before the liberation of Iraq. I also find him hypocritical in cherry-picking quotes from the 9/11 report and the CIA.
Wolf Blitzer, Ron Paul, and everyone who responded by improperly identifying the no-fly zones and the sanctions as US actions are simply liars...those are UN sanctions, and UN enforced no-fly zones. In another article, Ron Paul clearly seperates the institution of the UN and the US...not sure why there is a failure in this video.
Additionally, Ron Paul advocates that the US stop recognizing the UN as a legitimate institution, but then the UN is used as a source for data. Huh?
If Ron Paul believes he has a platform, he should grow a pair and run as a third party instead of trying to hijack the Republican Party.
PS: NAFTA is a Democratic creation, not a Republican or Guliani creation.

Even if he tried to get us out of the U.N. as President, Congress wouldn't pass it.
