This comment encapsulates beautify why the US, of all the countries in the world, has never adopted football(soccer). Football(soccer) requires an attention span, and a love and or fleeting interest for the actual sport, where as all Americans care about is being entertained, whilst having something to watch with lots of action while they eat (lots) in the stands, and sip Bud (watered down burger juice).

The premier league is overrated. Why it has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity is because it has imported its talent just like the other major leagues have done. But there is still too much of the "kick it long my son" mentality in English football. Thankfully there are now Chelseas and Arsenals and any one else who wants to win the premiership to fix it.

Union is more akin to warfare in that it doesn't stop every 30 seconds. I like watching the superbowl but its more like rock, scissors, paper than warfare, and some nice game theory. I don't hate gridiron but union is much more like an old fashioned battle of having to push the line forward.
The issue of greatest ever is pretty subjective. When FIFA asked fans to vote online they chose Maradona, probably because most never really saw that much of Pele when he was playing. Comparing different eras is just too tricky with all the excuses you can pull out to defend a choice. At the moment I'd still rank Ronaldinho as at least the best attacking player currently.
