Ok is it written somewhere that you must sing the song in the same octave and key that the orignial singer did? if you can't tighten the rubber band around your nuts enough to comfortably get up in the rafters with Steve Perry, it's ok to drop it down an octave or two so you can actually sing the song without tighten your diaphram and throat to the point that every note you sing is so out of fucking tune that the song is almost unrecognizable. That being said, the dude should now throw himself off the nearest bridge and die a slow painful death.
I don't know, I usually try to sound like the original to just exercise my singing ability. Steve Perry is in a league of his own though.
