Have you ever driven a car other than your mom's Taurus? On a real car, the power/weight ratio isn't the problem for the first few seconds of acceleration, traction is. I don't care if you put 1000hp into a smart car, you're still dealing with 2wd and tiny, thin tires.
If the guy driving the ferrari had given it and actually managed to taken off when the smart car did, it would have won. You can see that from the times listed at the end, which show the smart winning by 1/10th of a second. That's clearly less than the noticeable delay between the smart taking off and the ferrari taking off.
