What always gets me is conservatives didn't say one god damn word about taxes or the national debt when bush was in office even though during his 8 years he racked up over 5 trillion, doubting the standing national debt from when he was sworn in, and for what? War, and tax cuts for the top 10%. Now obama actually wants to do something about the sad state of american health care and all the conservatives seem to care about is money. I guess the general rule of thumb with conservatives is that its ok for our government to spend money, just so long as its to bomb brown people, but if you try to help americans get health care, thats the line.

I think some of the first posts here are confusing deficit with debt. Bush left a very large debt, removing the deficit surplus of previous administrations. Obama started partway into a fiscal year with a large 700?billion deficit because of the bailouts (bush) and then tripled it with stimulus and other spending. but the long term debt and deficit projections for health care etc make bush look like a miser.
I just wish he'd raise taxes already and quit just giving out money to stimulate the economy. the dollar is going to be worth less than a canadian dollar soon.
but that don't mean I won't take a share of the free money. as long as you're giving it...
