i saw ong bak in the theatre and it was the most fun i've ever had at the movies. the entire theatre was on its feet through large portions of the movie and total strangers were high-fiving each other.

both ong bak and tom yum goong rock, however there are a few cheesy parts in tom yum goong but the action still rocked, what tony jaa really needs is to get a big budget movie deal going, as long as it doesn't spoil the choreography.
he's easily the next jackie chan, arguably even more exiting to watch in my opinion.

bruce lee's fight scenes were good for their time yes.. i completely agree.. but they aren't the best fight scenes of any martial arts movie ever... not anymore... not by a long shot... do i still like watching bruce lee movies? of fucking course i do... are there other martial arts movies that are just as impressive.. yes.
if you like bruce lee movies i suggest you watch the tribute to bruce lee by jet li in fist of legend.. great movie

joe eigo is a mongoloid compared to tony jaa quite frankly.
we have joe eigo videos up here as well, i'm not saying i'm not a fan of what he does, but tony jaa is more impressive AND still much more in his infancy in regards to what he will do.

    • 16x16

Joe Eigo hops around alot...but doesn't really fight people all that much. And, Yak, I think the reason Bruce Lee's action wasn't all that impressive (I agree) is because his fighting style was made to get the job done, which is why he molded so many martial arts together. So he was a brilliant martial artist, just not so much of a showman.

      r3db4r0n says:

Indeed the fighting displayed in Bruce Lee movies is "less impressive" by todays standards because his dream was to bring realistic fighting to his movies using both kung fu and jeet kune do/wing chun.
His fight with Chuck Norris in "way of the dragon" was the pinnacle point of that.

Seems very choreographed to me, even the fighting stuff. Looks like he has some awesome moves!! the high kick was amazing, never thought he'd pull it off. However pitting this dyde against the late, great Bruce Lee is nonsence. Bruce was a purist- geared towards one thing- Fighting. I have yet to see anything as impressive as BL's fighting style.

good ole 'one kick lee'? :P
thats what they used to call bruce lee on the movie sets, because thats all he could really do :(
i don't mean any disrespect to bruce lee, i liked all of his few movies, but he was a movie star, that was worshiped as a martial art master. his hype much exceeded his teaching.
tony jaa is mui thai, unlike a lot of stunt people he's at least very well versed in his martial arts.
as far as bruce lee VS tony jaa, who knows... neither would have shit for grappling, although tony jaa would literally destroy in a clinch.

One kick Lee.. haven't heard that one before..is that your own? ;)

Bruce was a natural born fighter. and yes, as it turns out he also had talent onscreen. He combined the two in an attempt to bring martial arts to the mainstream, and to the world. He never saw himself as a movie star. He has also published more books on martial arts than movies starred in, all of which were groundbreaking and sold in every martial arts store to this day. Pick up ANY of his books and you will realise how uneducated your comments are. Grappling!?? um.. Google 'Jeet Kun Do' - it's about 50% grappling. As for ol' one-kick-lee, well.. I can't think of a better way to start and finish a fight can you? Unless of course you go for all that fancy shmancy hollywood fluff ;)

      yak says:

he was jokingly called one kick lee by all the hong kong movie producers, because all he could really do is throw one kick... and its not like bruce lee actually made many movies so it wouldn't be hard to publish more books then movies he's been in :p
like i've said, bruce lee was entertaining to watch *shrug* not much more to say about that..

      SmutLord says:

I wouldn't say Bruce was a 'natural born fighter'. He used to be just a scrawny little chinese kid until he got his ass wooped in high school and then cause of that started to train his ass off to become the awesome fighter that he was.

Tony Jaa is not better. Thats the point. Bruce Lee had personality and style. These guys are way too generic. I give props to his backflip ability, but that doesnt mean I want to sit through a whole movie of it.

Well as far as the Bruce Lee and Tony Jaa debate goes, they both were and very talented martial artists.
You just have to remeber that Jaa is Just a rising star that hasn't quite blossmed yet, and that Bruce Lee is a time honored movie legend and martial artist who sought to bring real and true to life martial arts to the movies in such a way that all people could observe and come to respect them.

      r3db4r0n says:

Essentially, they are both setting out to do the same thing. People who perform martial arts in movies can't just be written off as show boating stuntmen, it takes alot of determination and training to make what they've become, and they do it because they enjoy it...You can't tell me Bruce Lee and Tony Jaa practice(d) for endless hours everyday just soo they be written off as fools in a movie.

oh hells nah. i know u didn't! there is no way anyone can fuck with bruce lee. bruce is a real actual fighter, not someone who does shit to look good on camera. he can kick anyones ass. he is said to have a fighting distance of a 7foot person radius and with the speed he has too?! try and get in on him, he'll serve ur ass. and he's only like 5'7 or so. he aint the dragon for nothing. no one can beat his range, speed, reaction and counters.
