I got woken up at 5:30 in the morning by my dad going "Brian, someone bombed the Pentagon!" So I wandered downstairs, glared at the TV with blurry, sleep vision, then went "whatever" and went back to bed.
To be honest. When I came back from school I switched the TV on and just saw the 2nd plane hit WTC. I was really pleased to see the bastards suffer who harmed the world in so many ways . It was really ironic that it was the "world trade centre" the symbol of Wall Street financial crime and US military and economic imperialism that was hit! Even my normally very compassionate mother agreed that the USA only got what they deserved. The only thing that disgusted me was this hypocritical, "patriotic", self-pitying cant afterwards and of cause the "gay ceremony" at my school as if anybody (not brainwashed) really cared. And this is still my opinion. I hope there´ll be a bunch of terrorists who pay those bastards the crimes back they keep committing all over the world. Haha! Cheers!
haha, i remember, i was sitting behind my pc around 2:30 pm. a friend of my mom's came by to drop off some dogfood or something, and she told me "someone attacked the white house!" so i instantly put on the tv, and a few minutes later i saw the 2nd plane fly into the tower live.

Was just about to go to bed around midnight when almost all the channels switched to a CNN feed just after the first plane hit. First I thought it was a big fuss about some dickhead in a Cessna not being able to spot two massive skyscrapers. So I started leaving and BAM the next plane hits. I get up to leave again and then the Pentagon gets hit. I get up again and the first tower falls. Get up again the second one does too.

Shit, are we really doing this? Ok. It was Tuesday morning and my first class was bowling. I was walking up to the student center when this guy came running past saying, "They hit the pentagon! It's on fire!" I laughed at him thinking it was a joke but when I got into the student center they were doing a replay on the second plane hitting the twin towers. I was like, "FUCK!" About two hundred people were standing there just looking at this small screen attached to the ceiling. I had been looking forward to this day for about two weeks because it was my girl friends birthday. Shitty ass present if you ask me. So i ran down to the lower level because they had a huge screen tv down there and watched the rest of the morning unfold. I remember the newscasters voice when the first building fell. He said, "Oh dear lord."

He did all that, but he didn't have the foresight to get his family out of the country before he pulled off this plan, and he was dumb enough to be video taped admitting to the whole thing.

There's a bunch of reasons this could have happened. Best one that springs to mind is a desperate fund needing liquidity fast and selling outrageous options to anyone wanting to make a fanciful bet.

Short selling doesnt require any type of a "fanciful bet" either. All it requires is A borrowing stock from B with a promise to pay for shares at a later date, then selling the shares to C for £10. When the 'attack' happens the stock goes down to £3 per share at which point A pays B the value of £3 per share pocketing the £7 per share.
Potential profits only go from the value of each share to 0 but the risk is unlimited, of course but when you have inside information of an attack its a sure thing.

Yeah but in this case I think it was the put options that are standing out. Like someone bought a billion bucks worth of 'em that only pay off if the market falls more than 30%. Otherwise they just expire on the 19th as worthless. There doesn't seem to be any reason for someone to buy these unless they figured the market would fall that much. I heard one theory where the options were basically used as a money-transfer device, but then why have any risk at all? Why not make the options so fanciful as to be impossible for them to ever pay off?
I can only imagine that the buyer knows something we don't, or has has a hell of a lot more than a billion riding on the market falling by a smaller amount, and is hoping the publicity over the put options to drive down the market a bit. Nothing really seems realistic, though.
