actually this is based off a comic.. a fiction/fantasy comic.
kind of like how there are really japanese people in the world (real), but they haven't actually fought a giant lizard spawned from nuclear radiation (fiction)
Actually, everyone is kinda right. Its based of a comic book based off history. King Leonidas really did lead a small force against the Persians at Thermopylae. They gave them hell, and then died. A year later, the entire spartan army lead an alliance of the other Greek city states and pretty much destroyed the Persians at Plataea. Then king Xerxes fled and historians think he ended up in Asia. The fictional part comes from the comic book, most the dialogue except the "fighting in the shade" part, which has been recorded in history, and pretty much everything from the giant elephants to the immortals. And that mutant guy, was actually a farmer that told Xerxes emissaries where the goat path was, and history gives no reason to his motives other than he was probably just a dick.
