Then who will stop the terrorists, *some* liberties must be sacrificed.

jk. Oh and how many times was scientology was mentioned?
Yeah, well, your guarantee is worthless in the face of reality. JFK'speech wasn't meant to be pro-liberal, either, it's just that the person who pasted the images in decided to pick on Bush and ignore Clinton.
Funnily enough, whoever made the vid cut out the parts regarding the RESPONSIBILITY the press has in not giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
Here are the missing paragraphs...
That I do not intend to permit to the extent that it is in my control. And no official of my Administration, whether his rank is high or low, civilian or military, should interpret my words here tonight as an excuse to censor the news, to stifle dissent, to cover up our mistakes or to withhold from the press and the public the facts they deserve to know.
But I do ask every publisher, every editor, and every newsman in the nation to reexamine his own standards, and to recognize the nature of our country's peril. In time of war, the government and the press have customarily joined in an effort based largely on self-discipline, to prevent unauthorized disclosures to the enemy. In time of "clear and present danger," the courts have held that even the privileged rights of the First Amendment must yield to the public's need for national security.
Today no war has been declared--and however fierce the struggle may be, it may never be declared in the traditional fashion. Our way of life is under attack. Those who make themselves our enemy are advancing around the globe. The survival of our friends is in danger. And yet no war has been declared, no borders have been crossed by marching troops, no missiles have been fired.
If the press is awaiting a declaration of war before it imposes the self-discipline of combat conditions, then I can only say that no war ever posed a greater threat to our security. If you are awaiting a finding of "clear and present danger," then I can only say that the danger has never been more clear and its presence has never been more imminent.
It requires a change in outlook, a change in tactics, a change in missions--by the government, by the people, by every businessman or labor leader, and by every newspaper. For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence--on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day.
i dont understand how a 30 some year old speech has any relavence to whats going on today. and of course its just another speak out against the president thing.
Actually, a 30 year old speech could totally have relevance to what's happening today. I mean the constitution has relevance today? Right? I know the forefathers would be turning in their graves however if they found out America has turned into a Democracy instead of the Republic for which it was supposed to stand. Remember? So a 1000 year old speech, (taken and quoted in the right context) can be applied to today's terrors and conflicts. I mean, I am sure there is something written from the Crusades that could totally apply to radical Islams clash against the west and the west's subsequent reaction(s). Ask Canada, France, Britian, Spain etc..it's not just America fighting these towl head fucks. Bush's "Axis of Evil" seems to have some weight these days now that Iran is throwing a shit load of problems at Iraq.
Its not a matter of fighting a war on terror, its the war waged inside the country by the ones that have the knowledge, and the ones that don't. Secret societies running everything that you consider normal without you realizing that there is a completely different level of understanding that you are ignorant too. What you see on TV is just the smoke screen to keep you dull to the idea that there is another controlling factor in society that you never see even though it is right in front of our eyes. Call it brainwashing, or mind numbing from birth, we've come to accept a reality that is not real. This speech is as true today as it was when JFK spoke it.
lol- at 1:46 they show "Rome Free Academy" which is a high school in Rome NY which I thought was funny:

Its too bad that the media has fallen far from what JFK would have hoped and asked for in this speech.
I would have to agree.
Then who will stop the terrorists, *some* liberties must be sacrificed.

end of quote
It kind of makes the whole speech moot, when you consider the US media want the US to lose this war.
You can read the whole thing here and see how badly they hacked it up...
