just fyi, every year bush has been in power the dollar has been falling more and more... i know because we get paid in usd... when i moved here the us dollar was very strong... around 1.50 to the canadian dollar every year since (those years bush has been in "power") the dollar has slowly become less and less... this year quite a few times the us dollar has actually been worth less then the canadian dollar. the "first 6 years" weren't fine... its been a steady slope leading up to the shit that has been happening in the last 1-2 years.. people just seem to ignore things until they can't be ignored any longer (which is what was happening)

And how they might not be able to be treated, because they have to wait in a long line of other people with the same problem.. etc, etc.. My thoughts are, that it could be made to work right somehow.. Just cause it has seemingly failed elsewhere, doesn't mean it can't work. Private Healthcare Companies compete for our business by providing the best coverage, the best care, and at the lowest price, as well as constantly working towards better medicine. It's not hard to get, most jobs offer it. The businesses we work for buy it from these Private Healthcare companies, that's why theres so much competition in healthcare, which is why it's such good coverage we get. So if we socialize it, these private healthcare companies aren't providing for us anymore, the government is (actually we are, Canadians actually pay for their healthcare) and it turns to crap because there's no longer competition in the healthcare market, it's just one big hospital. Let me make it easier...

Chong, you're wrong... I'm 24, and faaaaaar from fucking rich, the last company I worked for (a CONSTRUCTION company I might add, not some fancy fucking job) gave me FULL MEDICAL COVERAGE... Times were certainly slow at times and I barely had enough money to pay the rent, but I could walk into the doctor anytime I wanted for a fucking checkup... Even Blockbuster fucking video provides medical, shit ain't hard to get. It helps if people stop smoking/selling weed and flipping burgers for a living and get out there to find a real job...

Well, I have been on the other end of the spectrum too.. Even while having a good healthcare provider, and all the best plans available, you can still get screwed! How does that happen??? Why am I paying for a $1500 ambulance ride to the ER, when I have been shelling out at least $2500 a year to them, without receiving any care! I think you should take a closer look at how things really work.. and think of me if something like that happens to you...
And those people that come here to take advantage of this wonderful system.... are evil, and ruthless capitalists, with absolutely no regard to preserving the decency of human life....
Not that I would wish that on anyone.. I just feel, that if we have the means to make sure everyone can get medical treatment, then I think we should.
Most Healthcare providers will only pay for your ambulance when any other means of transportation to the hospital would be dangerous to your health, like breaking your neck stab/bullet wound ect.(serious cases like these are the only real reason you should be calling one). But if you broke your wrist while skating (or something else minor enough that you didn't need to be "air lifted" out of), and didn't have the common sense to ask someone for a ride there, so instead called an ambulance to pick you up, ya you might end up paying. As you know they're not cheap, so why would a healthcare company risk losing millions and millions on ambulance rides everytimes someone stubbed their toe...

Yes.. good point. And in my case, it was for an overdose... Which fucking should be covered. It was society that got me to that point to begin with...
But for a different example. I went into the dentist to get a root canal, and crown.. It was recommended that I have the ingrown molar behind the damaged tooth, removed.. Which I am told now, was unnecessary. Not that I suffered "out of pocket" for that, because I went to an oral surgeon.. What screwed me was only getting 40% coverage on a necessary, $2400 crown operation, which is deemed as "cosmetic surgery"... The kicker is, I never even got the crown put in, because my dentist couldn't fit the mold correctly, and is a fuck up.. so now there is still a crater in my mouth, and I am receiving bills to this day for the remaining balance o$500 some odd dollars, even though the operation was never finished, and that bastard never even ordered the crown... and this was 2 years ago...

Well, that's shitty and I'm sorry to hear that... That obviously wasn't the best coverage, and it's hard to stay on top of your plan I'm sure. I would've started a lawsuit against them actually, you can't pay for something that never happened... But staying on topic, if that were the case with socialized healthcare, you would have waited months for any results and (if it went through) the quality of surgery would have been TERRIBLE, and you would still be paying a shitload for your healthcare every year, and for god-offel care, Canada is years behind us in medical technology. The vast majority of people with coverage have no complaints at all, you just happened to be one of the unlucky few with that dental issue. Not all companies provide 100% medical, but the ones that don't usually provide the basic coverage that people need, which is why you need to know what is and what isn't considered necessary...

And probably wouldn't have been as good of care if it was through socialized medicine, and I would have had to wait longer.. Prob all true things. And I am a dumbass mostly, in my particular case examples... But I still have faith it can work.. and I believe it's right.

The US already has a system for taking care of the uninsured, it's called the emergency room, and it's outrageously expensive, and the insured end up footing the bill anyway. The only question is, do you want to make it cheaper for the people paying for it.
The problem isn't the uninsured. It's the people that think they are covered, until some 6 figure asshat with an MBA degree at the insurance company decides his department has spent too much money this month, and it's threatening his future promotion decides that you are not covered for that particular procedure. Go ahead sue, good luck with that. 7 years later, after you've lost your house and job, you MIGHT get a judgment.
You may not know this but, Im British. We, here in Britain, have a national health service. It is full of bureaucracy and wastage. Many people choose to go private.
I don't know all the details but public healthcare isn't all its cracked up to be.

uh drumrave, just because there is socialized medicine doesn't mean you can't have health insurance if you want to... don't you get that? don't you also get that you are PAYING 100$/month (1200$/year) for something that you could be getting for free (the EXACT same quality treatment..) so instead of paying for it, it comes out of the taxes you pay (you know.. the taxes that everyone pays and the money goes to .... well in the usa's case... military spending)
so instead of paying that 100$/month you would have 100$ extra a month to spend on whatever you would like. and guess what, your taxes wouldn't be increasing... your taxes would most likely be going DOWN, so you would be making even more money to spend on whatever you would like...
guess what that means.... the rich people (the people who own the stores you shop at and give money to with that extra money you now have?) are now making more money because people have more income to spend... problem for them? they are now paying more taxes to cover the fact that there is a good socialized medicine plan, etc etc.. but guess what.. they are STILL MAKING MORE MONEY THEN BEFORE... why? because there are a fuckton more people that have extra money to spend so the economy starts to boom because people are actually going out and buying things... when you tax the rich people less then the poorer people.... the system doesn't work (which is of course what has been happening in america and has been proven to not work... i mean.. BANKS going bankrupt.. lol....) when you tax people who make less money (the bulk of the population) that gives them some breathing room to 1) acquire more wealth 2) the ability to actually spend money on goods/services that help build the economy up internally.
here is a secret.. rich people try to get everything for as little as possible, thats one of the ways a LOT of rich people got to BE rich.. by being cheap fucking bastards..
