You know what? I think government run health care is going to suck, but i still want it. I want it because it will provide blanket coverage for everyone, if you absolutely need it, and it will also force insurance companies to offer better coverage/services if they want to be competitive. Personally, i kind of hope it sucks, because if its too good, it will force private insurers out of business and we will be left with the government as our only option, and that's not much better than where we are at now.
your failing economy isn't to blame on just your government overspending on military and shit.. its also the failing of your corporations to understand economics it seems..
lol@the idea of insurance companies trying to be competitive tho... they will just keep denying claims for any reason whatsoever so they can turn a profit.
The corporations are nothing, only a name, an abstract idea. There are humans at the top who are playing to win for themselves. The government made it pointless to try to stay competitive long term by telling them how to run their businesses. Banks were forced to give bad loans as a result of regulation (eg. community reinvestment act).
Then they got bonuses for taking risks and turning good profits when the bubble was inflating, and they took more bonuses as severance packages while their failed companies got bailed out.
If it was my road, I'd break my back to fix it. If it was your road, and you asked, I'd help you fix it. If you demanded my labor/money to fix my lazy neighbors road while he ate cheetos and watched oprah, I'd tell you to go fuck yourself.
If there's a tree branch across the road, people will remove it. If someone goes into the ditch, someone with a truck will help them out. That's how it was where I grew up. In the city people see a tree branch on the road and turn around and hope someone else calls the police or something to take it away and the people who get stuck in snow wait around for a tow-truck and wonder why the government won't help push their car. Those people just finished driving by 5 other stuck cars and did nothing to help.
We still rely on govt. for road maintenance, as it is and should be, and as health care should be, yall's "good ol' American DIY" anecdotes notwithstanding.
The gas tax was supposed to pay for road maintenance. Now it pays for that plus a shitload of other stuff, so we'd actually save money on a toll system.
If you believe these propagandized horseshit lies, you probably voted for this stupid nigger. Which means you proly watch Katie Couric while your open your welfare checks and read Mucho.
Also why should my house burn down when I pay a fuckload in property tax each year? They should have a fucking guy at the end of my street just watching the houses for smoke for the amount I pay.
Fire dept would be way better if funded entirely by the community on a volunteer basis with volunteer fire-fighters. You have to be fucking stupid to think the only choice other than government run is to have fire insurance and fire trucks that won't put out the houses of the uninsured.
wanko, if you dont like how much you pay in taxes, stop paying. while your at it stay off of public property, never call the police/fire dept for any reason, and refuse medicare/social security. Oh, and you should probably stop eating food that's regulated by the FDA, because taxes pay for that too. the government is not perfect by any means, but it does provide quite a bit for millions of people.
I have never called the police or fire department for any reason, I've never used medicare, and I doubt there will be anything left of social security by the time I'd qualify for it.
The problem is not the services, the problem is that there is no choice. I would support a community run fire hall and police department (that would concern its self with crimes that have victims only), and make contributions towards it. I'd be happy to pay a toll towards road maintenance (I pay a few thousand bucks in gas tax as it is, which was supposed to go towards the roads).
I wouldn't support the FDA or a welfare program. I would help people that were short on cash that I had sympathy for.
I might support a community run health program if it was run well and not corrupt.
The point is choice. We have none.
Fire departments will exist even if we have the choice of not paying for them. They existed before that choice was taken away.
There are many communities that have privatized firefighters. I like how you think you have the heartbeat of America in your palm while in Japan, that's why you say stupid shit like that and vote for Al Franken.
Just out of curiosity, how would you compare the taxes you pay in Japan to those you'd pay in the U.S. working in the same profession including sales, property, state, fed, etc, and do you feel you get more from your "contributions" to the government there than you would here?
The taxes are almost a red herring in this case as Japan's debt to gdp is insane. They have nearly as much debt as the US with less than half the population and 1/3rd the GDP.) They're running on borrowed time. As high as the taxes are, they're not nearly enough to cover everything and the difference is made up through borrowing.
Hank a privatized fire station is run by volunteers, sorry I thought that was understood. I forgot I was speaking to a retarded foreigner with no understanding of capitalism.

It's sadly one of the fewer positive consequences of a socialist regime however.

what you dont know how to make a fuckin splint? or pop it in place and put it in a sling? you dont need some douche that was retarded enough to go to graduate school for every little thing
I was impressed by the way this was pieced together. About the only thing that doesn't run fucking pathetically is the fire department. The rest of the system is garbage, cops? Who could argue that the police are a worth while expense? Hes got a gun? That's nice, so do I. In fact, everyone should have guns. Another not so shocking detail, public water works are not fantastic, sure the water doesn't kill you immediately. But were you aware that they deliberately put poison in the water that inhibits your ability to think? Fluoride is not good for you.
Fedex blows USPS away, maybe that's just my opinion, but it does.
Who needs the coast guard though? What do they do? Stop mexicans from boating in drugs? We have a navy, it is tremendously giant, I think that's plenty more than enough. Fuck socialism, fuck capitalism.
No doubt, the government does such an awesome job with all the "programs" they already run, why not add health care/insurance, hell we should just let them run our finances too, they can pay my monthly bills, a lot me money for food and clothes, I'll just hand them my paycheck every week and they can give me what they feel I need
I can only assume that you have a very small penis and therefore like guns because you can simply buy a bigger one. but there will always be someone with a bigger gun and if you cant call the cops he's just gonna make you his bitch.
thats why police has to be run by the gov. it just doesn't mean necessarily that the gov will do a goop job when providing you with police forces. but in that case you need a better gov. but since the people elect the gov you just need better people. and thats the main issue here. people are just too fucking stupid.
Therefore I say: fuck people!
socialized medicine? no thanks. i like paying hundreds per month for insurance so i can go to some asshole doctor who overcharges like mad and i still have to pay out the ass for stuff i need.
i can't believe anyone would trust the govt with health care. i mean police, surveillance, war powers, veterans affairs, international diplomacy, these things i leave to the govt without a problem--but paying my fucking doctor? that shit be whack mang.
last i knew the USPS was totally self-funded.
at 00:47, second from the left ... that's me holding my massive, bleeding cock. i should probably have it cauterized or sumpin.
Then don't pay the fucking insurance company every month, pay the doctor when you need care, and cut out the middle man. My truck needs an oil change, why won't the gov pay for that? If I'm too fat to wipe my own ass, or too stupid to read, surely the government should pay someone to cleanse my stool shavings, and orate aloud the the latest Dr. Seuss novel at the cost of the tax payer while I plan my next food-stamp spending spree.
Far be it from you to sift through the frass of my argument to ascertain the crux, as the elite are pardoned from such tasks... right?
My point was that without the interference of government and insurance companies, health care would be affordable to everyone, and yet we look to the entities who created the problems for answers... but what do I know? I'm just a simple cave man.
*bangs rocks together and flings feces at tourists for fun
The government seized the mustang ranch twice back in the 90's. First time because of a tax fraud case, where the original owner actually bought it back at auction for less than the owed taxes that he never paid. Second time a new owner got it but they lost money again.
Well as I said below, in countries that aren't buttfucked by their government, most operations are affordable to most middle class people. That's how a free market operates. Setting a broken leg and applying a cast doesn't cost $5000 in a free market.
Remember this guy's argument is that health insurance is free for everybody because it is paid for by everybody, no wait it's only funded by tax payers.
And you can't discriminate against non-citizens because that would be racist!!! And you can't exclude people without jobs because its not their fault that they got laid off or too lazy or too stupid to keep a job!!!
Spoken by a young dick with very little life experience/sympathy. Lots of people get laid off due to no fault of their own. Are you really that fucking stupid?
I'd take anything right now. My wife's operation is still on hold because no one will insure us without an astronomical payment that even Donald Trump doesn't have. I'm going to call Action 5 news. That will get um.
If I wanted to, I could jump off a bridge, break all the bones in my legs, puncture my lung, crack a few ribs and damage the old arms.
If I call for an ambulance before I jump, I'll be picked up within 8 minutes, taken to hospital & rushed into surgery. Spend a few weeks eating hospital food, which actually seems pretty good, then get a taxi home without a care in the world.
Only kidding. I'm all for helping people in 3rd world countries countries, like Belgium, so long as it doesn't effect me in the slightest.
Since you're better at this than I am; why don't supermarkets donate the food they would normally throw away to charity instead or dumping it? Not the off stuff, just the slightly damaged/passed the sell by date stuff.
No good deed goes unpunished. I'm sure if you ran a store and tried doing something nice like that you'd find yourself in a shitstorm. Probably if any of the food was bad they'd be crawling up your ass with accusations of trying to poison the poor.
I took a bunch of canned shit from a dead dude's house to the food bank once and they bitched at me because two of the cans were dusty on top. Never did that again. Fuck those cocksuckers.
Oranje, but if you need a surgery, you can sign up on the waiting list and HOPE you live long enough... emergencies arent the only medical need of most people you dolt.
Oranjeboom 7 hours ago says:Healthcare shouldn't be classed as a luxury
El_Wanko 7 hours ago says:So everyone has the right to healthcare?
Then shouldn't you pay even more to guarantee health care to poor people in other countries?
Typical Wanko argument. Extends the argument to ridiculous conclusions. If everyone in America deserves health care, then everyone in the world deserves it, so you can't think about universal health care for America unless you are also planning universal health care for the world.
Therefore, the implied conclusion, if anyone in the world lacks health care at this moment, America shouldn't have universal health care.
Really silly reasoning. Of course, everyone in the world should have access to some decent, at least basic, health care. America needs to get it's health care sorted. The world governments and aid organizations need to work together to get health care in places in the world that don't have it, also.
No I'm just saying that if you think it's an important human right to have health care, you should be willing to help out those who really need it.
Health care sounds great when it's free for you because it's mostly paid for by those who are more wealthy, but if someone asked you to pay 3k a month to provide health care to Zimbabwe you'd probably tell them what to suck on.
It's all about where you are. Easy to ask others to sacrifice for you, much harder to do it for others.
Wtf are you talking about? Do you not live in America? Is this not one country? Nobody is talking about Zimbabwe.
It seems like you are saying a community in another part of America is like Zimbabwe to you. They are far away, you know noone there, so you don't care about them. Unfortunately, until America breaks up into smaller countries, you have to deal with the fact that it's one country. Some areas are richer and some are poorer. So what? All deserve affordable health care.
So we'll trust government that gave incredibly power to private health insurers and drug companies to save us from the private health insurers and drug companies. Ok.
Next stop, hiring teachers from the sex-offender registry...
"If I wanted to, I could jump off a bridge, break all the bones in my legs, puncture my lung, crack a few ribs and damage the old arms.
If I call for an ambulance before I jump, I'll be picked up within 8 minutes, taken to hospital & rushed into surgery."
Rushed into surgery? Think again. Average waiting time in the ER is 12 hours in Canada. Bitch is, if some dick comes in with a bullet hole, he gets firsties. He's get some more bullet holes if I were waiting 12 ma' fuckn' hours with broken ass limbs, Sons!
In Canada, people still choose to pay to see a doctor because it's faster.
My friend ran into a fence when playing football, snapping his arm & forcing the bone through the skin. Ambulances have a target of reaching people within 8 minutes, and they achieved that when coming to pick him up. He was taken to hospital, went straight for an x-ray to determine if there was any other damage. After they reviewed the x-ray he was drugged up popped his arm back into place & took him through to surgery for a few metal plates to be attached.
Now his arm is fine, apart from a few obvious scars. He has no bills to pay & noone cares about Canada.
uh what canada are you from where the average waiting time in the er is 12 hours... LOLOLOL
what fucking propaganda are you idiots listening to.
fugs and oranje are correct.. and its exactly like that in canada as well.. priority queue..
i can't believe you would even claim that the average wait time in the er is more than even a couple hours max and thats with something that isn't even a huge emergency...
i can't believe you guys are fed such bullshit in the usa and you believe it :P
go to an emergency room.. say you have stomach pains.. film it and send it to me.. i want to see this 12 hour wait.. lol...
just stop fucking lying. ok?
Well the Ontario Hospital Association seems to think the average wait time is 7.3 hrs.
http://www.oha.com/CurrentIssues/Issues/Alternate%20Level%20of%20Care/Kevin%20Smith%20Handouts.pdf
Hank read the fucking thing, it's Ontario's plan for reducing waiting times. How is it propaganda unless they lied about their own wait times to make it look worse than it is so they can spend another billion in tax dollars.
regarding wait times... i've been in emergency a few times, and never waited more than an hour. i was even in once with something not as severe as the american who punched a window and his hand was in a bag of blood and went in before them :) regarding that link... i had to wait 2 weeks for my ct scan, and mine wasn't an urgent matter. i think they're basing most of those times off of the few major cities
those wait times are also taking into account *FULL* visits to the er, as in not how long it takes you to see a doctor or get assessed or anything, but how long it takes for you to get out of the er period (you get into a car accident and you are in the er for 48 hours for example.. thats 48 hours into the er)... however the length of time that person had to wait to see a doctor? i'm guessing around 1minute... max... nowhere does it say in that article that its wait times to see a doctor or anything like that... if anything its wait times to be moved to another ward (from er to intensive care etc)
It doesn't say full visits or anything like that in the thread Wanko provided , although I'd be interested to know if that was the case. It just says wait time. Another site I read said that, yes, it is the major cities that register the 7.3 hour avg. wait times. Outside of the big cities, it said wait times were 1-4 hours.
I thought it said full visits were like 35 hours on average or something like that, so I assumed the 7.3 hours was waiting time meaning just sitting and waiting.
I hear a lot in this city that waiting at the hospital is pointless because you'll be there all day. Was out hiking with some friends (also in ontario) and someone broke an ankle, this was near a small town at about 9:30 pm, and there was basically no waiting time.
Most people live in the cities though, so most people have to deal with the long wait times. The walk in clinics around here are not much better, I had students who went to get a Dr. note so they could miss a test and they'd be in there waiting from opening in the morning until 3 in the afternoon. The school had it's own doctors but they didn't right notes all willy nilly so the kids had to go the walk-in clinic.
Can the United States afford national healthcare? No. End of discussion. And Wanko was right, why don't you guys go figure out why health care cost so much and fix that, instead of running into problems and saying "Government save me!".
The United States couldn't afford to leave a tip in a coffe shop. You need to go out for lunch with your Chinese/Arab friends & hope they pick up the tab.
There should be a movie like this to present the other side of the argument. Unfortunately, the people who would make something like that actually have jobs and no time to be busybodies going around telling people how to live.
WTF? The Federal government runs "the" fire departments? Fuck this probably-15-year-old-still-sucking-off-his-parents-gets-all-his-information-from-Wikipedia-bed-wetter.
And if you accept what he says as facts, you're an idiot.
If Canada's priority system allows people with more severe problems in first, is it safe to assume that if you wanted a simple check up or scan done you would have to wait until every last person who's fucked up to get looked at before you can get looked at?
if you want a simple checkup or scan done you don't go to the fucking emergency room now do you? you go to a walk in clinic or you go to your family doctor... if you go to your family doctor you schedule a visit just like anywhere in the world... if you go to a walk in you go there... and wait like 30min to an hour (depending on how busy the clinic is of course) and you get a checkup or "scan" done.... what kind of simpleton are you?
I had an infection in my finger nail looked at a few weeks ago. 3 minute walk, no appointment, 15 minute wait. Routine dental work done recently...Yeah, what Yak said.
When did I ever say emergency room in that last post, you fucking shit head? Fuck, you Canadians are all the same. I'm asking fucking questions to find out more about your fine country because apparently everywhere else I get my information is propaganda, only to get shit on for asking.

5 banks down so far tonight. Are you out there Kirk? I might celebrate by getting drunker and going in to the chat.
I know lots of things, broken record.
This video isn't currently working for me, I sure do wish the government would fix it.
I bet when there is a pot hole in the road you don't get out and fix it yourself.
Well if people had to fix their own roads we wouldnt pay state taxes for state workers to fix them.
Duh.

Or you live in any one of the dozens of countries that has this sort of Government run health system and have seen how it works just fine.
England's doing fine with Socialism, thanks very much Pussy.
Medicare is extremely popular among senior citizens.
And illegal aliens!!!
And fags.

In th UK i pay approx 22% of my gross to the govt and they do all the shit.
Until recently i was abroad and was paying approx 33% and that just seemed to fund a lazy assed, job for life with pension civil service.
I know which i prefer.
We should tax all foreigners living abroad.

I'd estimate mine at 30%, yet nothing is free for me. I don't benefit a fucking dime from the man. The eradication of the middle class under the guise of charity is the flavor of the day in the U.S.!
By those standards I should have free health care, a personal masseuse, and a fucking pony.
30%? I believe you forgot to add in state taxes, luxury taxes, gas taxes, property taxes, etc.
hahahahaha! i'm glad that our healthcare system works at least barely...good luck america!

Trust the free market to provide our health care!
If the market was free, as it should be, it would.
Government can't run a whorehouse without losing money. (That's not even a joke - they've tried.)
Why would it?
The government seized the mustang ranch twice back in the 90's. First time because of a tax fraud case, where the original owner actually bought it back at auction for less than the owed taxes that he never paid. Second time a new owner got it but they lost money again.
I wasn't talking to you.
Apparently ,he is.
I'd take anything right now. My wife's operation is still on hold because no one will insure us without an astronomical payment that even Donald Trump doesn't have. I'm going to call Action 5 news. That will get um.
You should be able to pay for it yourself.
*sarcasm*
I don't know what the operation is but in countries that aren't insured up the ass most operations are affordable to middle-class people.
In England it would be free. The more sever the problem, the quicker you get the op.
Simples!
Suck it, you non NHS having motherfuckers!
Yeah, universal healthcare fucking sucks....
You'd have to pasy for the taxi though...
*pay
I know, it's diabolical!
Oranje the problem is that everyone else has to pay for your choice to jump off a bridge.
Why don't we have a system where everyone pays my car repairs if I choose to fill the tires with gasoline and drive into a brick wall?
Healthcare shouldn't be classed as a luxury
So everyone has the right to healthcare?
Then shouldn't you pay even more to guarantee health care to poor people in other countries?
Yes
haha got you there!
I really don't know.
Fuck those cocksuckers.
places don't donate food anymore because they are worried about being liable. which is of course retarded.
Fucking Health & Safety
OJ,"diabolical" lol .
Based on what?
Why should this be at the national level and not at the state level?
Just because you made a feel-good statement that all Americans deserve something?
you do realize that zimbabwe isn't in the usa right?
i just wanna see Oranje jump
It will be once I buy it. I have 10 trillion dollars, that should cover it.
So we'll trust government that gave incredibly power to private health insurers and drug companies to save us from the private health insurers and drug companies. Ok.
Next stop, hiring teachers from the sex-offender registry...
That might give me a reason to move back.
Good luck. Cruel's been applying to be a grade school boys gym teacher for 12 years already, I think he'll get it before you.
Hank, is that comma in the right place?
I didn't type a comma.
The point is, in England you would be rushed into surgery without having to pay someone to queue-jump you.
It's pretty hard to pay to see a doctor in Canada unless you want to travel or happen to live near one of the private-ish clinics.
He better not have bills for the amount of taxes he pays. Or that someone else pays for him.
We do have National Insurance contributions taken from pay cheques, but not many people would complain about those.
uh what canada are you from where the average waiting time in the er is 12 hours... LOLOLOL
what fucking propaganda are you idiots listening to.
fugs and oranje are correct.. and its exactly like that in canada as well.. priority queue..
i can't believe you would even claim that the average wait time in the er is more than even a couple hours max and thats with something that isn't even a huge emergency...
i can't believe you guys are fed such bullshit in the usa and you believe it :P
I'm living in Canada right now...
go to an emergency room.. say you have stomach pains.. film it and send it to me.. i want to see this 12 hour wait.. lol...
just stop fucking lying. ok?
Well the Ontario Hospital Association seems to think the average wait time is 7.3 hrs.
http://www.oha.com/CurrentIssues/Issues/Alternate%20Level%20of%20Care/Kevin%20Smith%20Handouts.pdf
Wanko eats up the propaganda as long as it agrees with what he already believed.
It would be nice if you guys could get along.
I think one of you should compromise o your beliefs to make me happy.
Hank read the fucking thing, it's Ontario's plan for reducing waiting times. How is it propaganda unless they lied about their own wait times to make it look worse than it is so they can spend another billion in tax dollars.
To keep people in the USA from going to Canada .
regarding wait times... i've been in emergency a few times, and never waited more than an hour. i was even in once with something not as severe as the american who punched a window and his hand was in a bag of blood and went in before them :) regarding that link... i had to wait 2 weeks for my ct scan, and mine wasn't an urgent matter. i think they're basing most of those times off of the few major cities
those wait times are also taking into account *FULL* visits to the er, as in not how long it takes you to see a doctor or get assessed or anything, but how long it takes for you to get out of the er period (you get into a car accident and you are in the er for 48 hours for example.. thats 48 hours into the er)... however the length of time that person had to wait to see a doctor? i'm guessing around 1minute... max... nowhere does it say in that article that its wait times to see a doctor or anything like that... if anything its wait times to be moved to another ward (from er to intensive care etc)
The school had it's own doctors but they didn't right notes all willy nilly so the kids had to go the walk-in clinic.
fake. you're a muchoer, you don't have any friends and never go outside.
I go outside to scream at people on my lawn. Or near my lawn. Or looking at my lawn.
Hahahah how about we dont pay and when you ask for the money we shoot the fucken place up. Thats how we roll, Nukes FTW.
Lol.
There should be a movie like this to present the other side of the argument. Unfortunately, the people who would make something like that actually have jobs and no time to be busybodies going around telling people how to live.
A few have got some spare time since Lehman Brothers...well, ya know.
The film,Well done. But, some idiots will still fail to understand.
Good luck if you've got medicare. Doc's don't give fuck about you if you've got medicare.
Medicare = Doctors working on you without pay.
Medicare is extremely popular with seniors.
WTF? The Federal government runs "the" fire departments? Fuck this probably-15-year-old-still-sucking-off-his-parents-gets-all-his-information-from-Wikipedia-bed-wetter.
And if you accept what he says as facts, you're an idiot.
I keep a couple of 5 gallon buckets of water near, just if needed.
What age are you supposed to stop sucking off your parents?
You've still a few years left. Don't worry about it.
if you don't like insurances then don't buy one! And if you get sick no one else need to pay for your sorry ass. PWND!
What a load of shit.
If Canada's priority system allows people with more severe problems in first, is it safe to assume that if you wanted a simple check up or scan done you would have to wait until every last person who's fucked up to get looked at before you can get looked at?
Watch that sentence run on...
if you want a simple checkup or scan done you don't go to the fucking emergency room now do you? you go to a walk in clinic or you go to your family doctor... if you go to your family doctor you schedule a visit just like anywhere in the world... if you go to a walk in you go there... and wait like 30min to an hour (depending on how busy the clinic is of course) and you get a checkup or "scan" done.... what kind of simpleton are you?
I could have told you that.
The day I'm corrected by a Canadi...
