why do private households get into debt? it's to a large degree because wages declined since the 70s even though the economies grew. that's in part because of union busting and the shift from qualified industry labour to service jobs. in the same time large fortunes exploded...
reagan like bush first cut taxes first and the following administration is supposed to cut "spending". this is a strategy of redistributing wealth up to the wealthy even more. why not raise taxes on the wealthy who get more and more and more by the policies introduced over the last decades? the reason why they count "entitlements" as not payable in the future is that they want to privatize them and make a profit with inefficient private insurance companies...

if they want to fix there economy they must start from the bottom. First they build some decent hotels and start produce high quality drugs, no drug or prostitution laws, everything is legal. Make a nice beach where tourist can have a drink and get high , then some casinos and stuffs that you cant find anyplace else, like animals fighting each others and execution/torture of people and animals in public . Hunting with military weapons and aquariums with sharks they throw in animals and humans( criminals) so people can watch how it looks. I can come up with many attractions I could pay for, if they have good laws they can attract many foreign investors.
